Very sad to lose him at a relatively early age of 56. His cameo roles as Lord Flasheart in Blackadder often overshadowed Rowan Atkinson. His character of Alan B'Stard in the New Statesman sent shivers through Parliament, as his portrayal of a scheming politician was far too close to the truth. A very funny guy, who brought a lot of laughter to a lot of people with his wacky off-beat humour.

That is very sad new, my personal favorite of Rick Mayall and Ade Edmunson is Bottom... Hard to find any better slapstick comedy...

The sort of Comedy that made him (Them) I am sure, Ade will miss him most!

Came across this and thought YEP! that's the Humour, they had, as a Duo. View attachment 10705

Sorry if it has offended anyone but that is what, they were all about. was it not.

I would like to think Rik went with a smile on his face, knowing Ade would still be cracking the wise cracks!

Is this the gentlemen who was starring in "Blackadder back&forth" in 1999? With Colin Firth, Laurie and Fry?

    Mr. Peterson,

I'm actually a biggest fan on Laurie&Fry which made me watch that one and by chance I recalled Rik's face seen there when you posted a pic.
Unfortunately haven't seen him anymore and didn't know he was so famous. RIP, great comedian. But would be glad to discover smg you may recommend in spite of the fact a huge part of the jokes and gags in such sitcoms are beyond foreigner's understanding =)

I also love "Little Britain" (don't tell anyone!), "Smack the pony", "Suburban shootout"...and everything Ricky Gervais and Simon Pegg do. These guys are hilarious. But of corse they are only developing what such stars like Mayall started much earlier. Sort of next generation, I guess.
