Such beautiful prose! d*mn near brought a tear to my eye. I'm not sure you've actually been on the boulevard though as you completely forgot to mention the viagra, sunglasses, towel, peanuts, seatcover, and broom salesmen happily plying their trade as they merrily stroll around. I'd avoid downtown if I were you because if the Kymco thing got you so knotted up the fruit vendors and beggars blocking the sidewalks will surely give you a melt down.
I did mention the nuts, but after 8 pm you'll have a hard time finding the other salesmen you mention. They are smart enough to realize that few of us wear sunglasses at night and as for the viagra salemen, they are like cops, they hang around all day and are never there when you need them in the evening.
Number one key to successful marketing in the Philippines when starting a new business is to make noise. The louder the better! Rent or buy the biggest speakers you can get your hands on. Turn the volume as high as it will go. Instant success! As strange as this seems to us, it seems to work here in the Philippines. Go figure!
Actually they do the same thing in China.....except they start off with a ton of firecrackers in case you are asleep or relaxing somewhere. Then they blast the loud music....but not just for the grand opening...but EVERYDAY! I refuse to shop in any store that uses this tactic!
