    Dean,

Not sure what your point is, I decided not to go back because after 2 years it has been enough. Obviously that was my choice and one I am quite comfortable with.

I'm pretty sure I'm still a great guy and both the wife and my Mother are happy that I'm not going back and will be here to finish our house. I don't think a shrink is in the cards as I don't make a decision without being sure I have my sh*t together.

    A good Sunday

Had 6 workers today, appreciate them showing up so I'm going to keep going with the BBQ on Sundays.

I think I've gotten the brick color down...still wish I could get some concrete sealant as they will look better sealed.

    Hi Shawn
Been absent for awhile since return to UK
House is coming on great well done mate. not sure what is meant by "appeal for Afghanistan"
Sure as hell not the place to be right now, David Cameron is slightly worried by the backlash that might come to the UK!
Philippines sure looks like a safe place to be.....keep on building :D
    regards JB

You could try varnishing the exposed surface of the bricks. Good luck anyway, I enjoy your posts.

JB...wasn't sure either but have figured my American English does not always translate...I lost interest (the appeal is gone). Going to get the house built and figure out what my next opportunity will be. Excited to spend another couple months here; no regrets to not go back to Afghanistan and I wish a safe journey home for all our men and women serving there.

Hawk...have actually been thinking about using varnish for the bricks. Never tried it before but see no reason why it would not work, will try it tomorrow and see how the bricks turn out.

True. If you would like to see what varnished brick and stonework looks like check out the fountain and pond in the courtyard on the corner next to the old Catholic church here in Duma. I watched it being built over the course of a month or so and watched them paint the varnish on.

It will last for quite a while if kept out of the sun but will still eventually crack and flake off.

Thanks. What is it made out of? I know how to make a silicone rubber mold for rocks and brick but it would cost more than $75 for one that is as large as the one you have. You got a good deal.

Did you get the gun here or have it shipped over? The HVLP guns that are commonly sold here can be a pain to get to work properly.

It is rubber, not sure if it is silicone or another type of rubber.
