Has anyone gone through the process of having a private pedicab made and attached to your own bike? I know there is a shop in Banilad Bacong that builds pedicabs but trying to get info before I send my wife and her papa to go talk to them. My bike is a Yamaha Mio 125 Automatic and has made it up the Santa Catalina mountains with no problems so I assume it could handle a cab or at least a two person side car.. Thanks Note, I am not mechanically inclined with bikes so hope this isn’t a dumb idea!
Not sure if this will help as you are looking at a private pedicab; but a few years ago we got a great deal on a pedicab that was already registered, had it redone and bought a new motorcycle for it and no issues with re-registering. I would assume private use would be easier tax wise for registering. Maybe they would make you paint "not for hire" on it.... Shawn
Pat , we had one done from scratch about 10 years ago , and have still got it , just becareful with how much strain you intend to inflict on your Yamaha mio , I know everyone will have their own opinion , but you would be better off having a custom smaller one made if that bike is what you want to use for this purpose , and even then you will will dramatically decrease the life of your bike , I have got 5 motorbikes ranging from Harley Davidson to scooter , let's see what advice the rest of the crew come up with. Check this out! Pat, I don't know whether you are still pursuing, the trike theory but I came across this site earlier, Just thought it may be of interest to you. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=i...-5-Pictures-of-your-mio-nouvo%2Fpage7;508;309 Plenty of Ideas here I thought. JP
Thanks Jack, lots of ideas to look at. I am meeting with Gunther Saturday to glean what he did and learned from the one he had made.
Great link JP , with some good pics of what would be a sensible approach to Pat's considered project , well done . Tony
Pat, a friend had a cargo trike made in banilad and it was done on time and budget, across from the F,O and A? motorcycle parts store. Careful using an automatic trike to haul a sidecar around on. Very hard on the transmission as they are light duty at best. Thats why you see the tmx or honda 150's pulling the trikes and cargo boxes. Even going slow I think you might have issues down the road with the MIO.. Gerry
I was hesitating mentioning that Racal has a trike, 150cc shaft drive with reverse and a rear axle with differential, gasoline or diesel models. It's not an automatic though. I believe it's rated at 1/2 metric ton carrying capacity. It's in a tilt bed pickup form but should not be too hard to modify to a passenger vehicle. I believe the price mentioned was 83k php. I'd seen pictures before but the first video I have seen of one was on the Pop65z channel on youtube. I have no idea how they hold up.
My wife ordered a 3 passenger (1 facing where you’ve been, 2 facing where you are going) private pedicab for our bike. Cost is 25,000p for the non-metal roof, 27,500 if you want the metal roof. Additionally, she added a half side door and snap-on window covers, not sure what the add ons will cost. Takes one month to build, they are extremely busy as you can see if you drive by their shop in Banilad. I didn’t show my foreigner face to avoid the “extra tax”. Oh, and 50% down, receipt given. I hope to save wear and tear on my 3 1/2 yr old car. 5 round trips a week to school (opposite direction from town), 4 rt to the market and 3 rt to the gym sots me a lot of petrol so the plan is to only use the car for the school trips and the private cab for the town trips. I wish I could mount a 50 caliber for safety.
