Greatest threat to life and limb depends on the individual. Being scammed or robbed if you are indiscriminate in your dealings with certain kinds of Filipinos. Death by STD if you wh*re around, or by murder if you wh*re around with the wrong person. Arrest and prosecution if your Filipino girlfriend is unstable, jealous, vindictive. Extortion by law enforcement is high on the list. Traffic and parking issues hardly figure on the list of real threats. Written in response to the spirit of the OP's sentiment in the original post.

Everything needs to be kept in perspective and possibly compare other places that one might live, for instance Chicago.

Chicagoans celebrate the 4th of July weekend by shooting 82 of its residents, 14 of those were fatal. What a great way to celebrate Libery. (Dripping with sarcasm).

It doesn't do any good at all to say it's not too bad here because somewhere else is worse. If you're here then this is the relevance that matters.

Two trips to Moon Cafe in the last week and each time (incl today) there's a different foreigner all road rashed and bandaged up from a m/c accident. Today, this guy's knee cap area looked terrible, and he had other wounds.

A lot of that could be attributed to inexperience. Many foreigners come here and jump on a scooter, having no or little prior experience doing so, or having not been on anything with two wheels in 40+ years. Even the best/most experienced riders have their
abilities tested to the limit here to keep it rubber side down and collision free.

Yes, and the flashing of high beams threw me off for a while, too. In my country, it means "I'm slowing down for you, you go first." In the Philippines it means the opposite ; "Don't you dare, because I'm not stopping for you." .

If one drives on a highway in Switzerland and one get's it from the back, it means, "get the f*** out off my way"...

Ahhh Muddyfeet, lets not forget that Chicago has some of the strictest gun control laws in the US---that should make its liberal fool population feel much safer. After all, FREEDOM is the right to cower indoors in your fortress/home too!!!

The greatest threat? Bad tires! Well not really, but...

Was in a tricycle one day that blew a tire on the National Hwy, veering into the oncoming lane. Thankfully, that lane was empty.

Was on the Ceres bus to Cebu, The bus stopped so that we could see the truck that had plunged over the cliff onto the beach. It had blown a tire. The passenger jumped clear, but the driver was belted in and did not escape.

Another threat, working to organize the poor, farmers, labourers, or otherwise taking any action which the elite class here would view as a threat to their cozy existance.

Saying or doing anything, no matter how trivial it may seem, which causes a local to "lose face".
