Agree. You can add all the security measures you like. Not even the US military can stop the leaking of their sensitive data. There will always be someone willing to leak data. If a person feels something is unjust strongly enough they will take the data and release it. It's just human nature.

And you guys need to remember that if you are posting/logging in on a public wifi your data is NOT secure. There is a chance that this data could have been released via a MITM attack. No passwords are needed to piggyback your connection onto websites.

This is a program on my phone. You run this program while connected to a wifi network, and you can view any website that a person on the same network is going to. (I was logging onto a forum from a different device) This works for dumagueteinfo as well. So if you use a wifi at a restobar anyone connected to the same network could potentially do the same thing. And this program is completely free.

    We got an unsavory, mole.

 Odd to say the Least, all this started after Yap's Yapping.

Folks, we have a Mole, Pure and simple! No amount of Security features that were in Place, could have prevented this, a Mole is a MOLE!

He/She, whoever, will as they always do, surface.

That will make him/her a very small fish in a Shark Infested water, that they have produced, by this act of Betrayal, to Foreigners and their loved ones.

It must be possible to set up a server somewhere abroad, with an anonymous forum, or one where you at least is allowed to register anonymously. Anyone who know anyone living abroad? It's unadvisable that someone living, or frequently visiting the Philippines to be the registered owner of that domain and server. I think there is very little anyone in the Philippines could do against, e.g. a Russian citizen running a server in Russia, even if it writes all kind of crap about high or low politicians, attys, business establishments etc. etc.
A script can run periodically to clear the connection log so any IP addresses are immediately lost.

Wow. You surely don't think that is a viable solution do you? This is an informational website about Dumaguete.

I suppose if the owners like I can put in a request to the Army for use of the SIPR servers. Should be good to go after that....right after everyone gets their secret clearance and gets authorized to set up SIPR workstations in their homes. So, I'll need everyone to submit 2 completed FBI fingerprint cards and an SF 86 to me as soon as possible so we can get your interim clearance and get the ball rolling.

Back to the real world: Are you really wanting to set up a forum just so you can anonymously post ugly sh*t about people and get away with it? Do you have any idea how much forum software, domain name and server fees actually cost? If you wish to remain anonymous google VPN and setup an account with one of the many companies available.

An easier, and more mature, way to go about posting is to simply be reasonable when attacking someone. Point out the flaws in their opinion and challenge them on an intellectual level, attack the message, not the person. What some were doing in the "hidden" forum was basically the same as a 4 year old calling people a "poopie head". I don't think that post should have been moved to the hidden forum as it could have potentially been used for some good if members had not taken it personal and actually debunked Mr. Yap's opinion. Too late now though. Damage already done.

Of all the bitching in that thread did anyone bother to get off their computer chair and actually write out an article to present to the newspaper? Maybe they did, I didn't follow it much, but what I did notice was people threatening to boycott local businesses because of what one old man said. (which was basically akin to a childs hissy fit) Why in the world would you punish local businesses who had nothing to do with the article. Pick your battles: I didn't hear of any locals agreeing with the old man and I certainly didn't hear any mobs out looking for foreigner blood. What I think happened was the usual Filipino conflict resolution methods being used.....which is silently ignoring the old turd and moving on with their lives. He was a bored old man looking for attention, you guys gave him exactly what he wanted.

    Get over it.

    Raised a head

Then again, maybe, we have a member, who has laid low, for some time and only raised a head, when all this started.

    One and the same ???

And who would that be Jackpeterson?

Tomorrow, today, time to be more aware of our vulnerability in using the web, that's one I did not think possible, but I trust "Wrye" enough to believe it...

I think Wrye's demonstration , and insights into how vulnerable our information is , is very relevant , and more so make's you feel that whatever you are doing online , assume anyone can have a look . Which is scary , but plain and simple true .
