    Dewalt is my personal choice when it comes to power tools but have purchased quite a few hand tools from Crafstman.

    Craftsman does not make any tools of their own any more, all are made by other companies. To find out which company makes a specific unit, compare the first three digits of the model number to this chart;

    . Sears and Craftsman Source Product Code | Tools In Action - Power Tools and Gear

    Here when it comes to power tools I buy only real cheap stuff to use once and throw away, or I buy Dewalt. Dewalt is a good tool, but the main reason is I have never seen a fake Dewalt here. Fake Makitas, Black and Decker, Bosch, Ryobi are everywhere and you really have to watch what you buy and from whom. But Dewalt I have never seen a knockoff. Dewalt of course is made by...

    Black and Decker.

    once a Baltimore Co ..B&D I remember merge with a part of GE. General Electric but the name White Westinghouse ..makers of blenders and food mixers..anyway..2010 brought a merge with Stanley (tool ) and so Stanley-Black and Decker 2012 Spectrum bought out the home improvement line including the B&D registration name..Spectrum owns a ton of names but I didnt see Stanley or Dewalt included in them when they made a list..possibly not complete >> https://www.linkedin.com/company/spectrum-brands ( lots of brands you reconize there )

    But upon viewing the wiki on B&D it states quite clearly that Spectrum owns the name DeWalt..so now a chemical and small electronics firm makes Black & Decker..DeWalt and Stanley..once is left to believe Black & Decker - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    The Stanley tools here are nothing like I've seen before, have only bought a few but have been really disappointed.

    My experience of buying a Black and Decker rechargeable drill here- expensive, the Charger broke down in 2 weeks, getting it replaced under warranty involved travel to Manila.

    Bought a DeWalt jack hammer from Umataio, starter switch broke - returned to Umataio under the impression they were the official DeWalt dealers Not So. unit returned with a poor repair and all the casing screws damaged because they hadn't used a star key.
    Jackhammer breaks down again- parts ordered from Belmont tools- took 3 months to arrive, but spares order incomplete!
    Bought spares in Australia, deliered in 72 hrs fixed thing myself.

    So for me no more Black and Decker or DeWalt probably stick to Makita as I believe the service guy at rejoice is pretty good.

    B&D and Stanley are made by the same Chinese company.

    I have had bad luck with DeWalt and will stick with Makita.

    I had a friend recently buy a drill made by Skill which doesn't see to be too bad either.
