Has anyone gone to the BAIS LTO to get their license plate and tags for a new bike? I bought my wife a bike at Du Ek Sam a year and a half ago and never received the plate; they kept saying they are waiting on Bais. Finally, I took back the paperwork and said I would take care of it myself; maybe a mistake! I need to register it for this year.

Praise myself happy I bought my MIO in another shop. But it's really ridiculous that when you've bought a brand new motorbike and still after 18 months DuEk unable to provide a license plate. That's also part of the saying: It's more fun in the PH.

Been there, done that...but did not get a plate, nor a sticker...and that's 13!!! Years ago... just get yourself a plate made in one of the Plastic Shops in town and bring your "Authority to Paint" form with you, on it is the temporary number.
I have a temporary plate since 1999 and have traveled to other Islands with no problem at all, beat them at their own game...

Thanks, Pat. That makes me feel better. LOL.

We went through Bais LTO a year and a half ago too, through Norkis. Took 5 months to get the plate, the sticker showed up a month later.

It's luck o the draw it seems on LTO offices. In the Cebu impound lot is dozens of new motorcycles, some with grass growing up through them, with "for registration" plates. This is a big deterrent from buying a new motorcycle.

That is true, but unless you are a complete dumba** you can get yourself out of any type of situation like that by providing a valid DL even if its from your home country and a purchase receipt from the place you bought it from. sh*t i was involved in a accident in dmgte (not my fault) and I had a "For registration" plate on and i was never asked a single question, but the other guy was at fault and was sitting in a cell.. anyways.. i'd say to dukemsam, "if i get a ticket for this its on you" and leave. thats how you gotta be with some of these people..stern but polite...document all you can and if witness available all the better.

I would not recommend anyone to use the Bais LTO , I have posted my experience with them before so won't do it again here , trust me and go to Dumaguete LTO , at least you will have a chance , but avoid Bais at all costs their conduct is disgraceful , 3 years of problems , they really need some big changes in that office

How does it go for a Bike with expired Registration to re-Register it?

My Wife let the Rego lapse on her Scooter because apparently "You do not need Registration na"

The Registration is due on the Yamaha we use on the Tricycle I think this coming September, and I have asked her to register the Rusi again and to make sure that they are both due the same day so that we can pay for both together without making two trips.

Do we just take in the old Plate/Registration Papers and pay Registration, keeping the old Rego Number, or do we have to hand the old Plates back to obtain new Plates, or is there more to it than that? :(

First you need to get a smoke test which is a bit of a joke, if you go to the place opposite cangs on the highway on north side of town, they will sort you out and any probs you have, just ask, they will deal with it
