True. Dissatisfaction keeps things moving forward but this post is more about how people express and deal with their dissatisfaction in a public avenue like an internet forum.
People who are coming here in part to live cheaper lower their expectations. It start by selling off or giving away most of their possessions from back home. Just that process probably changes you. Others ship everything they can, build a big house and basically want to transfer their lifestyle here.
Dude, I agree. I think of it as living in the Philippines on your own terms which can be more expensive than what it cost to live back home, or living in the Philippines on the Philippines terms which can be very cheap but may take years to develop the skills, reflexes and mindset to live relatively comfortably.
This is so true. It does take time to develop the skills and mindset. I could write a long post on this subject. I will have to think it out a bit because I have a lot that I can say on it.
Trying our best! As a Foreigner, I think I try my best (as I am sure, we all do) to Cope with things, day to day, my wife understands after all these years, that we (The Foreigner) get a lot more, Thrown at us here, to contend with, than any Filipino, would have thrown at them, if they were in Our country. Somedays I win most things, others days I lose. To overcome many things and Keep some perspective, on life here. there are 2 rules in my house. 1. Give me something to talk about and I will talk about it. 2. Give me something to moan about and I will moan. Life and Marriage are not one way streets! It is all about give and take. Of course that is not, 1( one) giving and the other taking, this is where a lot of problems begin and the nasty talk starts. JP
