We all miss *stuff* I think I do order more than most but others might use this service..at least know it exists. I have no idea when you are gonna need new drawers or a pair of shoes size 12, gift of quality for the mrs?..You get the drift. I have like others used friends and relatives to ship stuff here. Yeah I feel like a pain in the @ss asking..probably am but so far none have admitted it to me..*LOL* Also I have shipped stuff to friends who can ship things to me airmail through a LBC outlet..they do it you know? Ok so here is the service Im trying out for the first time today...made an order and will see how it goes...shipping fragile things sooo...time will tell. When you setup a trial shipment dont faint from the shipping costs. I can tell you that what Im shipping through them ( couple speciality glasses ) ..after shipping to a friend..paying LBC their *freight* costs..and the LBC agents *juice*..the domestic shipping to thier location..and not even paying the friend..Their cost is actually cheaper..and I am hoping quicker than the LBC once it hits this country and their time lags.. I will get back to here and state the results...good/bad/indifferent ( I did choose to pre-pay duties to prevent any other slowing down of shipment here in-country) ==== Borderfree is the partner that America's top retailers rely upon to power their global ecommerce. I will be repatriating back to the U.S. within the year and i will send balikbayan boxes of stuff, periodically, for you guys here if you want.
JohnnyAir is another freight forwarder that will ship your purchases from the U.S. or wherever to any of their offices at an SM Mall. They have two fee structures. Volume and weight whichever is higher. It is $6.49 per pound or size of box, whichever is higher. ) (don't know the volume rates) You have the retailer ship to JohnnyAir and then JohnnyAir takes care of shipping, customs, and duties for the fees charged. Can get expense for large or heavy items. www.JohnnyAir.com
Maybe my intent was not clear here.. I was pointing out ( attempting?) that this was much easier than using at least 2 other services combined to make the deal...but just use these stores ..Basically these stores all ship internationally without you dealing with anyone else. It just so happens that Borderfree is the person they use. But if you go through their website you get to see a lot on *ONE STOP INTERNATIONAL* shop and ship Wasnt trying to list *yet another* freight fowarder..as I have done in the past..like Filoutlet
Does anyone know why zesty doritos cannot be found in the Philippines? I'm dying without my injections of sweet, sweet artery-clogging orange snackychips. (( found out one of the stores DT sells cheese powder though. Gonna buy me a bag to eat with a spoon sometime in the next three weeks....and I finally figured out that Norient tastes almost like normal milk!!! Hurrah! But it goes bad in an afternoon. :D ))
Well it would be even better *IF* it became a "shared asset" between 2 expats ( or more...). Let me put an example. Expat A needs a pair of shoes.. He goes into that listing and finds someone that sells to him ..more or less...what he is looking for. Instead of straight away ordering he places a post into this thread for a lack of any better at the moment. And waits a 5 days to week to see if someone else wants to place an order to the same store. They can then share the shipping charges at a reduced amount. Existing transaction is my extravagant order...lol Prior to placing the order I entered in two different ones One for 2..one for 4 glasses..I did double my order from 2 to 4 glasses.. thus doubling the cost of the items bought BUT (including the additional import duty) I paid doubling my order cost me sixty percent more total expenditure. Anyway.. if possible... shared shipping could save all of us money.. in any transaction with any resource for that matter.. Im positive of it.. Ok the truth is.. Im thinking if this works ok ...I might be interested in a pair of boots...hehe..ANYONE?? heheh
My guess is that the shelves of a third world country grocery store cannot physically hold all the products of every country there are expats from. So some Doritos can be found in Robinsons but your exact flavor may not be available. Perhaps someone coming over could bring you some OR you may want to try the US stores idea, (which is the topic of this thread you and I are hijacking), and have a whole case shipped over to you.
