Regarding Forum Participation

Before joining this forum , after being a regular negros oriental visitor ,
somewhere around 30 + visits and stays in 12 years , the amount of expats I knew I could count on 1 hand ,
and that is after 12 years , because the only expats I had met were by chance and Expatron is one of them .
I met Ron about 7 years ago through an Aussie mate of mine that has since passed on.

Just recently , at the start of the year I joined this site out of curiosity more than reaching out to communicate and make friends . But I have made friends here , and I am extremely happy that it turned out that way .
And recently when I was there I had an absolutely fantastic experience meeting some of the friends that I have made on this site , Mokum , Shawn M (who I was already friends with from a previous visit , but who I also met through this site ) Pato , who after helping me expedite some banking formality’s , even invited us to his residence for dinner ,
JP and Roger , who got me drunk as a skunk at casa blanca one afternoon (thanks fella’s) and also Ed who dropped up to my place with some fantastic home brew .

So my experience here is a good experience overall . But then I have still have had the nit picky ones here to . They have to constantly pounce and impose their attitude / will. Fair enough to a degree , it is a forum . Some of us choose to conduct ourselves with a certain amount of humility , with a human side to how we go about things . And I think Larry’s administration is exceptional , it is done laterally and fairly but with the hard decisions being made and executed . And even with participation in the forums but not done with overbearing tones , well done Shadow .

But for the members that want to constantly grind away at each other , get a f*cking life , you are like little snotty nosed children that have never grown up . Try and contribute in a non contentious way at least every now and again . if someone is mistaken or wrong , try and explain it , instead of reaching for the throat of the poster. Recently we all had an issue with a member here , who aggravated all with his comments , I kept diplomatically posting in hope he would turn around and realise that he was offside with everyone , and then there were those that went straight for his throat , like a lynch mob , with one of those members even posting contrite little posts back to me , grow up .
The member that aggravated everybody has taken stock and is now , I would say contributing good likeable content .

I feel that I contribute here in a reasonable mode so that is why I am giving you all my take on this . Yes it is a forum , we have to have constructive criticism and debate and disagreement so that it remains at a good standard but is does not have to be done with malice and self righteousness . Let’s all have a crack at being informative and funny while engaging in things on the forum without being nasty and knowitall .
Any thoughts Gentleman ?

 

Tony, your post is enough to get me out of my self-imposed suspension for previously ganging up on a couple posts, so thank you for shouting out on this.
It is obvious that a couple members seem to enjoy steering the pot. I learned to merely ignore those types of posts and maybe if others do as well the guys steering the pot can have a sword fight with themselves while saving the world.

Agitation!

Stirring pots, is what I think we can call Agitation, Surely, this is the one thing, we are trying to stay clear of. IMHO

 

I was thinking of starting a thread entitled "Where in the World is PatO" just to make sure if your self imposed exile was still in effect or God forbid something more sinister had kept us from sharing in your wisdom. Welcome Back PatO :dnr:

 

This JP , Is unfortunately what we are up against , and no matter how well worded or thoughtfully you present an issue , some will ridicule attempts at betterment , because they live for the feud , although I think different and opposing opinions warrant debate and discussion , It is the level of integrity that you use while doing it that makes the difference . I am willing to bet that there are "some" people here that are so knowledgeable they showed Christopher Columbus where America was.
This is actually heading where I thought/knew it would .
