I think it was Robert A. Heinlein who said "The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire". I fall into the second half. I don't start political or religious threads. I have tried to be quiet and see if someone trying mould thought seemingly with cult programming techniques such as say something that is true, followed by something that sounds plausable followed by a big lie, would wind down and stop. But they don't. Evidently they have too much time on their hands and nothing better to do than copy and paste garbage and they will not stop doing what is to me the intellectual equivalent of peeing in the pool. They know what they are doing because they edit out the bat sh*t crazy part of what they copy and paste because they don't want you to consider the source. I will continue to spend some of my time that I do not have an overabundance of contradicting them. I don't care if they are Communist, Socialist, National Socialist but I can tell you one thing, they have nothing going for the system they want because they can't tell you how their way would improve things, only how bad the system is that exists now. They want demolition and revenge, with no plan to rebuild. If they could come up with that, maybe they could win ME over, but they can't, don't and evidently won't. Thank you for your kind attention and now we return you to your regularly scheduled program already in progress.

No longer, a totally Cyber Forum

 One of the great things about DI now, is that things have moved on, it is no longer just a Cyber Forum persay, From Things like the Thursday Club, to recently instigated face to face Meetings, it really has become more of an Expat Club. Look at the success of the Gardening thing of Dave & Imps. Since Larry and Rony took Over, ( or Should that be Rony with Larry's help :o:rolleyes:) We have all, met a lot more of other members and their families, than we ever did before. To me, this has made it more imperative, that we do not lose, the friendships we have found and may build on in the future. Slagging each other off on a Cyber Forum happens But for goodness sake, we are getting to know each other in person. This makes a rather large difference, in how we should be talking to each other on the Screen.

Before anyone starts with the "It is getting like a Yahoo Chat Room" Well that's fine by me. It is in the main, DI and will still be about Dumaguete and life in General here, in the Philippines. All the other areas, can I hope, be Discussed in a more Democratic way than of late.

I totally Agree with Tony, we are all, entitled to our Views & Opinions, it is how they are worded and presented that, I believe Tony is getting at. On this issue, I would fully Support him, if he was Standing for Parliament and this was part, of his manifesto.

    Blending without agitation.

Stirring the pot sometimes brings up the items from the bottom of the pot that does not always particularly enhance the concoction as a whole. I have been one of ones who decided to limit my participation in the forum lately. I did not do it because of the lively debate as much as I did it because some people seem attempt to take procession of the forum, attacking ideas, thoughts and nationality of others on a others continuous basis. I began to question whether the forum by having by having so many political editorial pieces posted was becoming slanted just another political blog like the CNNs and Fox are on the TV. I just stop reading those threads or even reading thread will included this persons opinions. It seem like lately that person has limited his participation also, after more than a few helpful hints by members here. The forum seems to be returning to the old helpful ways.
I think there is room for lively debate, and even humorous barbs thrown at each other in a good naturally way. However when the is just a lot of posts trying to create drama to increase the number of posts in the name of protecting someone’s investment then the purpose/value of the forum is compromised. I can handle more than”plain vanilla” discussions but I personally do not want to deal with the constant “Rocky Road” flavor that was created in the pot recently .We can debate divergent ideas, and accept the ideas of others, but to hammer in ideas with multiple posts trying to say the same negative ideas about someone else’s ideas, philosophy, politics or national policies drove me away, and I think a few more of the “silent majority” that read the posts here also. If you have a great idea, philosophy, and national policy statement then “sell” your ideas to the group through a positive foundation, and not the destruction of others ideas, etc. There are plenty of political organizations that will give you slanted information to post, but this forum I believe should lean to personal experience and ideas.
I look forward to friendly debates, a blending of ideas as opposed to agitation. Just because you can make unlimited posts, does not mean you should do so to force you ideas on others. If your ideas do not receive” likes” or other posted endorsements then maybe it time to stop trying to for force your ideas upon the members that have been loyal to the forum in the past. Sounds like a few are thinking of returning to taste what is cooking in the pot again. Let us trying to encourage ourselves to do that, and leave a pleasant blended taste in our mouths so we return again and again.

I did not quote the whole message but its all good. So my thoughts are:
Stirring the pot is good. Adding sh*t and then stirring it in is not.

It is great to see a few comments here from members we have not heard much from for a while , and it is a better place when it is not just the few "self ingratiating individuals" dominating the state of play , big head small mind it was I start thinking , I am glad I wrote that post because it is achieving what I had hoped . We need there to be room for those that want be here , without arrogant swooping attacks , welcome back fella's .

I totally agree with you guys. My point of view is, "if you are going to tell me I am wrong, fine, but you must tell me what you think is right, if you want me to respectfully listen to you".

When I said stirring the pot I didn't mean it in a negative way, or as "agitation" as someone put it. I think I have an idea who the posts were directed towards but I'm not 100% sure so I'll keep my mouth shut for now. I think there is a good solution for the people with a problem with political posts: put a password on the politics forum, with the password publicly posted, that way only people who take the time to enter in the password will see the posts, and anyone who enters that password has no reason to complain about political posts. People who don't want to see it, won't, people who want to can opt in. Many different personalities and interests here. For this issue there seems to be a fix to where everyone can get what they want.

Okay, Gentleman, it's nice to read about so much admiration for my copy/paste pieces, really, I like it a lot, also the bit about protecting my investment of 5000PhP, very well said, I would like to know where I have done something that not anybody that would not want to read it, could have avoided it by simply not opening that thread...
Some of you guys have exactly the problem you are accusing me of having, to much time on your hands and nothing meaningfull to do...
A pity and a shame but I do not expect anything else from a mixed expat forum...

I think the personal attacks, from both sides, should stop. If you don't like what is being posted, don't read that person's posts, block that user and/or report them if it breaks forum rules.

Just my opinion...whatever that is worth.
