We are having Cabinets & Wardrobes built, just about everywhere in the house. Now as you would expect, we are trying to keep everything covered, as much as possible, Unfortunately, Yesterday, the French Polisher (for want of a better word) Commenced, to Start the Preparations for Decorations, (wood paint and varnishing) The dust he is creating is accepted, as of course it has to be done, However, After his work yesterday, we cleaned up the house as best we could.

The thing that is a little worrying is the TV, Hi fi and PC Workstations. I can't take it all apart, everyday and then rebuild each night. The Daughter needs, to be able to do here research and assignments daily as soon as she gets home and some night time entertainment is always nice, a film or something. What I will ask is. Should I continue to clear the main debris daily, from things and worry about taking everything else apart and Fine clean, after he has finished. He tells me about 10 days in total should be his programme?

Is there any Likelihood, of Damage to the Electrical and PCstuff if left, for the 10? days or so ?

We are not talking large debris, just very fine dust from sanding.

    What do you reckon?

Thank you for any Advice or Opinions here.

    JP

Jack, can't you close off the working area by hanging large plastic around the section in use? The dust cannot be good for the lungs, as well as the potential damage to your household items, as you know. Good luck with this,

But don't you just, love them ? O-|

    Thanks for the thought Pat.

I guess the first question that comes to mind for me is that you say cabinets and wardrobes..unless these are all built-ins why are they not made elsewhere and then transported? I assume you dust cover to death. if you didnt build *dust partitions* In all the movies when you see all those plastic walls up thats the biggest reason for them..dust containment. When using a tool in the house like a paint/varnish spraygun out of the recesses of my mind something says wet walls..like cotton sheeting around the area of containment..dampened. Fine for small jobs but quite a chore for large ones. If someone had one of those *machines* that removed positive charged ions from the air and caused them to fall to the floor that would help too.. Geeze cant remember what they are called.. I got one for a *condition* of my kid to help her breathe better at night and one of the offshoots of using it was all the dust that would drop around the area of the machine. It just caused the stuff to drop. I doubt seriously anyone ever used one for construction though.

Avoidance and containment are your best tools. Honestly all your electronics is covered during the *heavy* hours I dont think dust flying around 3 hours later is a big deal. I have seen more electronics *fried* by gecko climbing in and shorting out by eating shitting or just crossing the wrong connections. If it makes you feel better you can get a couple of cans of compressed air and taking your equipment outside shooting in the same way you think the dust goes in the first place..unless its something that can cause its own condensation issue I think its about the best you can do and more than most would ever think of doing !

Sounds to me... if you have only one guy doing it..make them move methodically thru the house..unless you have 30 guys working all these places at at time.then your recourse is lots and lots..and still more lots of plastic !

My wife & her Brilliant, Ideas but 10/14 days, hmmm Copeable I guess ?

Yep you hit it on the head, all the work is made measure here. All built in, the Chippy's are doing a good job and in the main, are very clean Workers, (They heard, I can be a grouch, when it comes to tidy, I think) I will continue I guess, as I have been and clear up each day, covering all things well, during the Work hours and doing the best we can at night, to clean.

I will check the Tower tomorrow and see how things look.

Thanks for the replies, Please keep them coming. There just may be a new answer out there.

Well I have 2 Carpenters, 1 Labourer and the Guy doing the finishing, they are all seem, well rehearsed in working as a team and as far as I can see, they are not all over the place, but of course, they are working in various places, as they cut from 8 x 4 marine ply and the waste fits, Yep, in another room.

Azon, has arranged the Work Programme with them, I am just here to worry about the Mess and to pay of course. :(

    Ain't life Grand:p
