Sometimes it is hard to ignore a thread. I think there is a way to ignore a member, but not a thread (as far as I know). At the top of each thread I see 'thread options' that allow me to subscribe to a thread, but I would like the option to stop that thread from showing up in my 'new posts'

Why? Its like the practical joker who sends you a wrapped box and you just know he shat in that box and sent it to you but curiosity demands you open the box to be sure. If you could stop the delivery of boxes like that then you would never go through the 'let down' of knowing you were deceived again.

So is there any way to implement such an 'ignore thread'?

    Settings !

    Dave,
Go to Settings top right of the page, where it say name and all that, Go to Settings. Then click on General Settings, I have an Idea, that you can control, some of of what you want. You are PC savvy and I think you will be Ok on this.

BTW I very nearly, did not open the thread, But Curiosity as you said!

Yes the title was purposely worded to illustrate how hard it is to ignore a thread, even when your conscious mind says you should.

But JP, I checked settings and can only find ways to ignore members, not threads. Shame really because some threads are of interest only to the people who are posting their own polarized viewpoints on a subject they don't seem to realize that no one else gives a d*mn about, except that they are designed to rile people up. Perhaps sh*t stirring leads to more advertisers or more money somehow but I just don't see it (or wish I didn't LOL)

Even titling the reply post, would help

Difficult to monitor and too time consuming to moderate I guess but it would be good, if people, that start a thread, were to Title it correctly in the first place, Even as I did here, give the reply, a header too, so anyone, could skip it if so desired. just a thought.

" People are sometimes 1/2 the problem and 1/2 the Solution" :D JMHO (I know cos, I am one of them!) but I will try harder.

Okay, curiosity got the better of me so I went looking for these "New Threads" thingys I read something about here the other night and I assume this is also related, up until now I never even realised there was a sort of News feed thing that showed latest Posts and by whom etc, never seen them, never knew they existed.

I have the Forum bookmarked and when I click on the link in my Address Toolbar it simply opens the Forum, I then put in my Username and Password, and Log in...

    Bookmarked Forum Link;
    http://www.dumagueteinfo.com/board/forum.php

Then I scroll down to General Chat... Seemingly oblivious to the fact that the "Latest Posts" section even existed. You could I suppose simply Bookmark the "New Chat" Link ( General Chat ) and therefore bypass having to see the Latest Posts by Members...

I have a thing going here when the housemate's Dogs want to harass me and play while I am on the computer, I refuse to make eye contact and simply say; "I cannot see you, If I cannot see you, then you are not there, if you are not there, then I cannot hear you, GOODBYE!" :D It drives them crazy that I refuse to acknowledge them at all and they huff and puff and eventually give up and go away...

The Moral to the Story I suppose is; If you do not look at the Posts and refuse to acknowledge them, then there is no problem for you... Until senility consumes me fully, I am sticking to this self imposed Rule as it works great for me...

Hmm....so what would happen if the forum theme was changed and the "What's New" threads were shown on the General Chat area? O-xI And what would happen if it were a completely different color!? Would you think you were on the wrong page? Or has the senility not hit you that hard yet?

Being half senile means by the time something begins to sink in I have forgotten it already, looks like all of those head knocks I received in my youth are really working out for me now, as long as I do not need to wear Adult Diapers, my world is viewed through Rose coloured Glasses... Bugger! Now where did I leave my Glasses? lol
