    Just a heads up here, there is pretty strong strain of Chickenpox spreading among the Residents of Batinguel ( Lower Batinguel especially) There seems to be as many Adults as Children affected. if your kids are at West City Elementary (one teacher already down) or Dumaguete Science High, cases are there. Don Bosco too has confirmed cases.

    I don't think it is Panic Stations yet but thought you all would like to know

    But then subject to possibilty of shingles, if Terry Bradshaw can be believed in the commercials. :(

    Obviously I don't know the exact strain of this one (not my field) but I believe it is affecting the Adults more than the Children.

    If I find out any more about the local Situation I will post. other than that, I guess we will have to be guided by What we can Dig up on the net :rolleyes:

    I had it when I was a kid and again when I was 37 yrs, the second time was much worse and felt like crap for several days! It left a lot of scars the second time around. I was surprised it did not come out as shingles as I know this is much worse in adults.

    Apparently the Strain is of the (Varicella-Zoster) group which can lead to the Herpes Zoster or Zoster group which is Shingles.

    Information supplied by the Attending Doctor to my Wife. Her Sister has just (Well 1 hour ago been confined in SUMC)

    This is very contagious, so she is in Isolation.

    Lets Hope this is Contained Quickly.

    I had the pox as a kid and thought I was immune, HOW WRONG I WAS.. Around 9 months ago I got the second coming of chicken pox. Herpes Zoster. AKA Shingles. It's not completely gone yet. Mine started in my left ear and spread down the side of my face. Went to 2 Doctors that were no help. The nerve damage it causes can last months or even years. As I said i'm around 9 months and counting. My wife never had chicken pox or any immunization so she got chicken pox from me.

    If you suspect you may have it, get to a Doctor fast.. The anti viral's must be administered within the first day or two or they won't work. Once we knew what it was, my wife got the meds right away and in a few days she was fine.
