Everyone needs to check out this site and sign up if you can. Brand new (it's not mine but I know the designer) and it's for a great cause. Currently there are around 40 people signed up to give blood. Link: Give Blood and Save a Life - Find Blood and Save a Life - Dumaguete
I tried to give blood a few years ago and was told by Red Cross here in Dumaguete that they do not take blood after people turn 65. I was not doing it for any other reason than to help people. Does anyone know a location in Dumaguete that takes blood from older people other than the local merchants? Secondly (and please do not say I am stupid, as I am aware of that already) but I do not know my blood type. I think that would be good to know at anytime in life. Does anyone know where you can to to find that out in Dumaguete? Thanks
I think it would be a good idea for the person who created the website to include some of the rules for donating blood. Any of the hospitals should be able to tell you by taking a sample and running a test. You might be able to run to one of the drug testing labs and have them do it, not sure on that though.
I did not know my blood type until about 4 1/2 yrs ago. I went to a Diagnostic Clinic in Quezon City to have a battery of test done. My then Fiance wanted to be sure I was still alive, prior to her marrying me. Celebrating our 4th Anniversary the end of this month. I guess I passed. :D
Generally the rules for donating blood are time sensitive so they are not part of the main visitor flow. It's a valid point and useful information too so I'll add a separate section and link it in the confirmation email. I've tried to keep it as simple as possible.
I added some information about donating blood to: Give Blood and Save a Life - Find Blood and Save a Life - Dumaguete It's also mentioned and linked into the confirmation page Thanks for the suggestion. More suggestions are welcome!
Dave, I had blood typing done at Holy Child about 4 years ago cost P68 at that time. It shouldn't be much more now. Regards, Yolly
Blood type is a good thing to know. Russian soldiers serving in Afganistan would often tatoo their blood type on their hand. I'm A+.
