Many times I guess, we have all been asked why do some countries drive of that side and others on that side. Over the years I have heard many differing answers and both side of the Argument can make sense. recently I was asked well who drives on your side of the road (left for me in the UK) at the time I couldn't fully answer the Question. ( slight beer induced memory loss) My daughter found this as she was researching this issue for a school project. I hadn't realized how many countries still did drive on the Left or where these countries were. I told her of course it didn't matter to her here as they drive in the middle of the road, as they do in Spain and France.
I post this in case it may be of interest to others that some times get asked this type of Question. maybe we will get some more answers for the reason of the difference :D

    HISTORY & ORIGIN:

    http://www.worldstandards.eu/cars/driving-on-the-left/

    Opening; (Makes sense)
In the past, almost everybody travelled on the left side of the road because that was the most sensible option for feudal, violent societies. Since most people are right-handed, swordsmen preferred to keep to the left in order to have their right arm nearer to an opponent and their scabbard further from him. Moreover, it reduced the chance of the scabbard (worn on the left) hitting other people.

    Oh right Brian,
So...Because we dont want anybody getting hurt by the scabbard, but we will slice their head off with the sword in the right hand.
I understand now...:D by the way I'm left handed

I think the map is slightly in error. The Bahamas (off the southeast coast of Florida) also drive on the left, as do most (all?) British Commonwealth countries. Also, (these may be too small to even show on the map) are Bermuda and the US Virgin Islands. The USVI is only part of the US where left hand driving is the rule of the road.

I believe you are right in that the islands you mention are probably too small to include in the map, Malta-is also missing, this is a Left hand side island ( Left over from GB days. The only place I can think of that now ( that is GB) and drive on the right is GIBRALTAR. This is only because [Although they used to Drive on the left] there is not enough Room after the Runway ( Crossing which is the Exit Road to Spain) there is not enough Road Left to Do the Change.

The Island as it is Affectionately known ( Although it is an Ismus) is only 4.5 Sq miles in Total
