There is nothing wrong with disagreeing. I see no personal attacks in this thread. It is politics and if a person doesn't like seeing people disagree they should probably stay out of the political topics.

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't see this as controversial....just a difference of opinion. It has not even gotten close to a "heated" debate.

I think it would be best to stop with the off-topic commentary now.

I am! I was merely making a statement, but then it is early in the thread yet. In fact it was a Question and not a statement.

I don't think that the system can be fixed with the political parties in place. Even if one person from a party might say he represents my beliefs and will go against party lines in a campaign, the political party he is a member of will reel him in to voting for their bills once he is actually in office (after all, they did pay and support him during the campaign that put him into power...he owes them). They lie, cheat and steal in campaigns to get their seat and then once there they almost always strictly follow party voting lines. There is no point in listening to the crap that comes out of their mouths in a campaign, they will not honor their word....unless their party says it is ok. The only thing to be expected from politics is half-truths and straight up lies.

The US needs to change it up. The representative-democracy we have needs to move more towards the democracy part and further from the representative way. I think the only time our representatives should vote on laws is when it is an absolute emergency/time-sensitive. Representatives should present laws for the people to vote on. Of course this is impossible when, as you said, 80% of the population doesn't even know who the current V.P. is. If Americans don't even care enough to know who is representing them then they won't really care about what laws they are pushing forward. Most of the American population is either to ignorant to have such a system or they are brainwashed by political parties. The scum in congress need to have term limits just like the president.....but do you really think they will EVER vote on a bill that gives them less power and less time in said power? lol Never.

I also think the wrong side won in the Civil War (minus that whole slavery thing....which had very little to do with the actual war anyway). Stronger States better represent the people. The people in US are not one culture. You see very different cultures in different regions of the US. It is impossible for the Federal Government to represent everyone in the US.

Define "is". lol You know Monica Lewinsky made a public comeback recently? She is an advocate against online bullying......but come on now, if you change your father's last name from a noun to a verb you kinda deserve a bit of "blow back" from that. There is absolutely no amount of public speaking she can do that will stop the puns/bullying on the internet...no matter how sincere her intentions. The internet is a brutal place. :p If you get caught blowing a president nothing short of changing your name, getting plastic surgery and forgetting your previous life will stop the ridicule. I get we make mistakes.....but giving a married President a BJ in the Oval Office? That's an EPIC lack of judgement.

This is, again, another example of how everything out of a politicians mouth is a lie. I have no problems with ol' Billy, I think he was actually one of the better Presidents and worked across party lines but people who think that they can change the definition of "is" to make their lie a truth is scum and has no business in government. (that was my attempt of keeping this post on topic)

Well respected ecomomist and author, Milton Friedman once stated "If the govt were put in chage of the Sahara Desert, in five years there would be a shortage of sand". I fully agree that govt is normally the most inept group of individuals ever assembled.

Don't expect any big changes as Obola will veto anything that comes across his desk. Mitch McConnel's main contributors to his 31 million dollar campaign was wall street and insurance companies execs and PACs. The elites will take care of one another, regardless of party affiliation.

My predictions: Grid lock will continue and this is not a bad thing as it seems the only laws they pass are bad laws. Obola will go into over drive on executive orders to convert US into a full blown socialist nation. Lots of hand wringing by Republicans as they will be jockeying for position to run for president.
Republicans will not impeach Obola as they are afraid of the political blow back like they suffered with Clinton's impeachment and they need the political ammo to defeat Dems .
Obola care will not be repealed as Repubs are in pocket of insurers. Mitch McConnel will prove to be almost as big an obstacle as Harry Reid.
Stock market will crash within 1 year, probably less
Federal reserve will restart QE to jump start economy.
Dallas Cowboys will win Super Bowl.
