Two weeks ago a accident happened next to me in downtown Bais, where a girl got off a tricycle and walked in front of a speeding motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle quickly took off when he saw the girl folded up in the street in very bad shape. A week later about 3 blocks from where the previous accident happened, a motorcycle crossed the main highway and a ambulance hit and killed them. The person in the ambulance had to be transferred to another ambulance. Two days ago two motorcycles had a head on where they were both passing on a curv.
I have had several very close calls driving my motorcycle as I am sure most of the other expats have. So many people drive crazy here with there own rules that foreigners that have never been here are in shock and awe trying to figure out what the drivers are doing. A warning to all newbies here, Sometime it seems there is a maze of motorcycles and cars coming from all directions at you.
Is there anyplace that reports all the accidents that happen here?
    Thanks
    Brad

I doubt the proper paperwork is done for the majority of accidents. Your heads up to newbies is spot on. Expect the unexpected. Slow down and chill out when driving,

I don't see many accidents myself. On the one hand, there should be relatively few because public transportation is used heavily here. On the other hand, motorcycles are less safe than cars. Though a wreck is a wreck no matter the level of safety.

I walk a lot, which is probably as dangerous as driving. Most of my close calls are from people cutting corners on blind turns. They just buzz around the wall or bush without thinking about what might be on the other side. The worst in the early morning is coming across people who are coming out of the bars after drinking all night. People turning into or coming in from side streets seem to think pedestrians are under different rules of right away since they are more squishy than something made of metal.

Another good one is people driving on curbs and even sidewalks. The road could be completely clear and still people drive on the right side of the solid line as if the curb were an extra lane. There have been a few cases where I have been walking on the side of the road and looking in another direction as someone texting on a motorcycle is barreling straight for me.

I guess a good mind set to have when driving here is to think The largest vehicle has the right of way so be ready to get out of the way at all times if you are driving a smaller vehicle. also that corners are cut in any direction to make the shortest route to there destination.

Don't bank on the larger vehicle having the right of way. How many times have you had a motorcycle or pedicab pull out in front of you without even looking ? And if you hit them, chances are YOU will be at fault.

Of course we are always considered at fault. Motorcycle and trike drivers almost never look when turning to the right and don't look part of the time when turning left. The Larger vehicles aren't suppose to have the right of way but drive like they do. The larger SUV's and Pickups might just pull over and force you on the shoulder or off the road traveling on the National Highway when you meet them on a motorcycle. Oh I forgot to mention the GT express might be the worst.

This gets a big thumbs up from me. Biggest douche bags on the road IMO. I think there is a number on the back to report bad drivers but they are going so d*mn fast you could never have time to write it or the plate number down (not that anyone at the other end of that line would give a crap anyways). The owners need to learn what "preventative maintenance" is as well.

Sorry for the girl that got off the bus in Bais..I've had girls walking in front of my fast moving motorcycle almost as if they dared me to hit them; and the horn doesn't faze them. I see pedestrians not looking both ways before crossing, or worse-looking the wrong way for the first lane they are about to step into.

So combine the drivers that are getting more reckless with indifferent pedestrians and it's a bad mix.

We were leaving the city passing by Quezon Park a few days ago and my wife spotted a foreigner on a scooter who she said was bruised practically over his entire body..

I guess you'd have to poll the ERs at the 3 hospitals to know the motorcycle accident weekly tally
