I hate it. There is no escape from misery in the winter. Going in a heated room in the winter does not offer the same comfort as sitting in the shade/in front of a fan/in an air-conditioned room during a hot summer day. Feels so restrictive to always be wearing a lot of cloths......then coming in and taking it off.....then back on to go outside again. Just a freaking hassle. Going to take a shower is something I truly despise over here. Not having a shower attached to my heated room means I must drive a kilometer (in a vehicle without a heater) to get a shower and then back. I'm reluctant to even go take a p*ss because I have to walk outside to a porta-shitter to do it. And I have 2 more months of this nonsense weather.

I envy those of you there in the Philippines. I'd take the rain/typhoons/earthquakes in warm weather over this d*mn cold weather any day. If I seem a bit grumpy/confrontational know it's because of this weather (and being away from the gf). Here's to hoping the work load stays light so that I can crank the "zone out" dial way up and miss most of the winter....and the rest of this contact.

Accuweather claims it is 40 degrees right now (9am). I call BS on that though. Can't be higher than mid-30s

Why humans even thought of settling there in the first place is beyond me. Without modern technology I don't know how a person would survive in an environment like that....and even if you could I don't know why you would want to.

My plan to acclimatize here seems to be working. No fan at all and I am not sweating. I do get a decent breeze here though. I sympathize with those stuck in the cold.

The military sends their guys over here fully prepared for the winter. My company sent me over here with a light weight jacket and some sunglasses. They have some pull-overs for sale in the German PX......for 180 Euros! They have some fleece sock-caps for 30 Euros (the same one I bought in the US for $5) I'd rather freeze than pay over 200 USD for a d*mn fleece pullover and $30 for a fleece hat.....stupid Germans, do they think fleece is some sort of cutting edge technology? Or is crap in Europe just really that expensive? I'm sure there is a markup for getting it over here but I still wouldn't see paying any more than 40-50 bucks for a simple pull-over sweater.
