So back to Topic.o_O Hmmm Manners and things, I was at Lee Plaza yesterday Evening, at the Checkout there was a very obnoxious Foreigner laying into a Supervisor about something or Other, having taken part in this thread and bearing in Mind another Thread about the behaviour of Foreigners I sometimes Wonder if we have any Inclining, that we can be as Guilty as the Locals when it comes to Manners, Respect & Common sense. I also wonder if they do as we are here, have Forums where they discuss Us, maybe that's why some don't talk English in front of us all the Time, They really are talking about us!:( We can all be Sarcastic at times and never give a thought to our own behaviour. Just a Thought my friends. JP
Roger , Roger , it is actually a knife , just that in Australia , along with the rest of the world we call it a spoon , just wait til you ask for a tooth pick they will probably hand you a chopstick
There are better worded articles written on this topic but my opinion is that smart phones have both become the most powerful device a human could ever carry and the most destructive force of the deterioration of social manners at the same time. We are rapidly approaching a generation of newly minted adults that have never not known life without a smart phone. Basically smart phones have become the "outer garment". What I mean to say is that when people go out now, they put on this "outer garment" that protects them from having to talk to pretty much everyone else that isn't already established in their lives. A social network bubble. This is happening all over the USA too from what I've seen. Kids have their heads DOWN at all times except for when necessary. The only time you see anyone showing emotions/expresions/fun actions is when posing for FB pics and then afterwards revert back to being motionless.
:D My friend, you have just described my 15 year old daughter down to a "T" the only thing Missing was the colour of This Outer garment.
An interesting article from the sun star about some of the things being mentioned on this thread. http://www.sunstar.com.ph/bacolod/opinion/2015/01/09/filipinos-cannot-handle-criticism-385752
Ha. And in the comment section: That is either dripping with satire or someone completely missed the point, I really can't tell. Either way a couple trolls hit him hard on the replies. Funny stuff.
At the bottom of the article it showed that 10 were happy, 1 was angry and 1 was indefferent. I dont follow that statement. I have always considered that Pinoy's were proud of their country, as in they always talk about their modern shopping malls, but never about poverty. They talk about their love of food, but not healthy eating. Is that good or bad. As a Liverpudlian proud of my city, I find my fellow locals will criticize their own city, but dont like it if anybody outside does!

A world like Paul Theroux describes in his book :O-Zone” In this story he pictures America in the 21st century as a forbidden land of nuclear wast, mutants and aliens. The smart phone is long outdated , the people wear helmets outdoors equipped with communication and navigation systems and never talk face to face.

[/QUOTE] If the Islamic Extremists get their hands on Nukes, that is exactly what will happen, and similarly to Australia, UK, France, and any one else who is working alongside the US. Anyone see the movie " The Sum of all Fears" - ?
