DAILY STAR: Top Stories Guy kidnaps kid in Bacolod, says he didn't know it was wrong to kidnap until he got to Dumaguete. Once he, admittedly, grasps the idea that kidnapping is wrong he doesn't turn around and take the kid back to Bacolod, he proceeds to Cebu. The idiot runs out of money and then contacts the father asking for money to feed the kid and pay for the hotel he is staying at. I'm assuming the father had a bit of common sense and informed the police where he sent the money and they tracked him and the kid down. Kidnapper says he did it because he was angry and wanted to p*ss off the mother. Now the court doesn't know if they will charge him with kidnapping because only a missing persons report was made on the child.....even though the child was clearly kidnapped, and money has even changed hand.
You know the Longer I am here the more I am convinced there really is no Real Legal Training or any Form of Prosecution Service that can hold up in any court, Is it any wonder, that the law here is open to Bribery on a big Scale when they can't even get a small thing like this right. I do not make light of Kidnapping, I believe in the US it is a Federal Offence Yes? Wacky country we have all choose to be in JP
It seems to be pretty serious here as well as the have a special police task force in charge of tracking kidnappers down. The police did their job well here (even though I'm sure this idiot made it extremely easy for them). The prosecution should nail this guy regardless of what deal has been made between these two families/clans. This guy kidnapped a child and was caught red handed. Now, I don't think it was completely malicious in nature and I'm not sure money was a prime factor. I think the guy was honestly just an upset moron who made a very stupid mistake.....but there are consequences for our actions ( well, maybe not in the Philippines). If he cannot control his anger (especially at his age) enough to stop himself committing a crime as serious as kidnapping then I say he is unfit to live with the rest of society. Who knows what else he would be willing to do in a fit of childish loss of pride induced rage.
