Were we not talking about this Privacy thing not long ago? or should that be Lack of it? Say Goodbye to Privacy | WIRED Lunch time Guys and Gals. Then a well earned beer I think JP
Sensationalist reporting. The never describe what they mean by "privacy", what information is being given up, what is being done with that information and who is gathering it. Personally, I consider using the internet like walking down the street. I don't expect everything I do to be private (there is a chance someone could be following me). Also, if I were to walk into a business I don't expect that to be some super secret special ops mission. When I go into the store they have cameras and watch me, they see what isles I'm going to and what products I'm looking at. If a store employee sees me searching through a certain type of product and not putting anything in my "shopping cart" they might come over and tell me more about a product or suggest something that better fits my needs to try to make a sale. When they do that I don't start screaming at them saying they are invading my privacy and demand they leave me alone......and I've never seen anyone else do this in real life. If we don't want their help we simply say "no thanks" when they ask if we need some help. You do the same by ignoring the advertising or recommendations made by a website. I don't understand why people shopping online don't understand this. Personally, I like it when I go to Amazon and they have recommendations based off of my interests. I like it when Google gives related advertisements to me (as compared to the completely irrelevant billboards while driving down the highway and seeing the divorce lawyers, fast food chains, beer and whatever else is posted up there that I don't have any interest in). The only thing that worries me is who they share that information with.
Can you condense that article so those of us who are of a simple mind can comprehend the subject matter ? - For example, does it mean that my "privates" will become "public" - ?
