Hello Everyone, I'm just wondering if there are any location independent entrepreneurs spending some time here in Dumaguete. I'm interested in meeting some like minded people.
Yea, I'm living over in Bantayan. I kind of just getting started on the online income part of location independence haha, but I've been without a permanant home for years. I'm guessing this is your site? Was location independence part of your plans?
Yes I own the site. The end goal is to make enough money online (not just from this forum though) to maintain a decent life in the Philippines. It is very time consuming but I guess that making money usually is. I currently work in Afghanistan as a contractor and I also get disability from the military so I don't need to make much online. Certainly not looking to get rich here, just want my rent paid.
Very nice. Are you splitting your time between Afghanistan and the Phils? Do you have a place around Dumaguete?
I've had a house (rental) in Valencia since 2010. My last contract ended in 2011, took 3 years off and started this current contract in June of last year. Only doing a year this go around and should be back in the Philippines around July August time frame after I visit some family back in the US. Just recently took over this site so still getting things sorted and getting advertisers signed up. How long have you been in the Philippines/Dumaguete? Do you already have something set up online that is bringing in some money?
I'm a web developer and I work with people in Australia, N. America, Europe and Asia. That makes my work location independent. I suppose I could be location independent, but I sort of rooted myself when I arrived in Dumaguete. Getting out to Dauin in a big trip for me.
Ive been here since September. I'm having a simple affiiliate marketing site developed right now. I'm pretty sure I will be able to earn an income from it, but I have plenty to learn. I will need to pay for a lot of traffic probably, and with that will be learning experiences. I'll probably be learning SEO quite a bit too. I realize it wont be easy, but as you said, its all about putting time in, and eventually, if things are done well, some income should start coming in. [DOUBLEPOST=1425251066,1425250925][/DOUBLEPOST] Good for you Lebowski! Working for yourself from home is the way to go. How do you generally get clients? Do you freelance online, or have you had a business established for a while?
If the amount of affiliate marketing and SEO spam I get in my email is any indication, you are entering a very very crowded market. (I had to set up filters in my email program that automatically threw that crap in the junk. They way they send spam out like that, anytime I now hear the words "improve your SEO", "get Facebook likes" or "get Twitter followers" I automatically think scam. And they think they are fooling anyone by putting the "re:" in front of the email subject? I know d*mn well that is not a reply.
Haha, I know what you mean, and trust me, my site is nothing like that. Its not sending out mass emails to sell junk or anything. Actually its very straight forward. The revenue is just from products that I dont own (affiliates). This is more of a test for me and an excuse to learn/understand how to bring in an income stream online. Learning some skills that can be applied to other businesses in time. SEO would be a good skill to learn I think. I don't have any social media presence, but I also think that might have to be part of it unfortunately haha. At least a simple business page So how has your experience been with this site? Was it an existing site when you took over? How did you decide on this particular site?
