Looks like another storm developing in the Pacific now, some agencies are saying it could turn into a strong typhoon early next week! Seems strange to be getting typhoons this early in the year as usually the water is too cold, but as we have a weak El nino things have changed! Some rain would be nice but the wind can go else where. At this time the JMA has labeled this TROPICAL DEPRESSION and expects it to become Tropical Storm Maysak in 24hrs. Meanwhile JTWC (US MILITARY) have upgraded it to a Tropical Depression and expect it to become a strong typhoon by mid-next week.
Probably nothing at all to do with climate change that we are getting tropical storms this time of year, and later in December typhoons. Just a coincidence, right. After all look at North east America all the snow storms.
I believe this year was one of those El Nino years. Might have something to do with it, might not....I'm no meteorologist.
Nothing to be terribly concerned about now, but could be a problem for anyone planning to travel next weekend. We'll know more in the next few days. Westernpacificweather.com | Typhoon Maysak Moves over Chuuk, Impact in the Philippines later this week
