I'll try again, the first time the web page changed quickly, so my intended response became a blank. Since I live in the US, people in America would just walk away, even in the same complex, let them call the police if they feel malice was at fault, and your gf could complain to the police about harassment. But with living there with no ? reputable police in the Phil, I feel the first recourse is to speak to the manager of the complex ( if one is available ) about the harassment, along with a sign at the pool stating that "persons are responsible for there property " The phone is NOT an issue, the person that left the phone in that position is solely held accountable for their own property.
Wrye, based on what I have read here, you are being too kind to the guy even considering accepting responsibility, I was not aware you were that thoughtful.........lol..........oops, off topic, sorry my apologies.............I suggest you take him aside in a quiet dark corner, where there are no witnesses apart from your own friends, and politely tell him to forget it, and suck it up, and move on................................end of story.
Well Wyre, if you were not here, then this would not have happened. Therefore its your fault and you are liable
The owner of the Phone is absolutely at fault. It could have been stolen anyway? Unattended items are simply THAT. If this individual was so in love with his phone - then it should have accompanied him everywhere. NO EXCUSES. I think he's trying to lay blame for his own stupidity onto someone else. Everyone needs to accept responsibility for their OWN actions/inactions. Maybe next time he will PAWS for thought?
Wrye... My advice will be.. Do not pay him nor buy him a new phone instead ask for his phone and bring it to the service centre. Explain to him this way... If you damage my car, Do you need to buy me a new one?? or will you bring it to the repair man?? I think that is the best way to do it.. because your pet is involved.. For the sake of truce...
I would have agreed with this if he had not insulted my gf and been very rude with me. The issue has been dropped, the phone had no damage so nothing will be paid out.
The best way to defeat rudeness is kindness... I think he is intentionally provoking you to be very angry... why not react with what he least expected you to do (matured and responsible).. It's a favour on your side if it does not have damage (cost less)... the repair man will just completely dry it inside.. the least you wanted to happen is this issue spreading all over the place by him without your knowledge and you can't defend yourself.. Doing the right thing will give you a peaceful sleep which is priceless... plus the good reputation. (next time it will happen again)
