Hi guys - Just wondering if anyone here has fed their dogs on the Breeders Choice dog food that's on sale at Robinsons and any opinions on it?

    Many thanks - Barry

Barry, we tried it twice only, We found that when the Dogs drank after, they swelled too much and the Youngest Threw hers back, We have gone back to "GOOD BOY" which they seem to like either meal mixed or as a snack item. Like most foods the eater can tell you a Lot.My dogs reactions told me what I should do. I honestly cant see any difference in the values between them (Ingredients wise)

    Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks for your comments Jack. I haven't seen the Good Boy brand as far as I can recall - where do you source it! My two dogs are now adult and am looking to change from the hideously expensive imported high protein stuff they were previously fed which I suspect is not that different from the local stuff ingredient-wise!

Handyman at Robinsons in Town lower Floor or Handyman 2nd floor Robinsons place but I believe Lee plaza and Hypermart also have it.

Barry I would be Interested to learn how you get on with it, Shawn "M" may chip in as well as he buys a lot of Dog Food he may well have an Alternative for you. I might Add that the pet shop "WOOF WOOF" on Cervantes Street up from Fit 4 life Gym ( Same side) has a Pretty good selection also.

Thanks for that Jack! yes, I will keep you posted regarding the results. In the UK back in the day I used to feed my dogs a real meat diet, but that's not really an option here. Really appreciate your assistance - Cheers - Barry

We just moved here in Dumaguete barely 2 weeks ago and ran out of food for our two dachshunds (we have three). We tried the Pedigree (canned and dry) from Robinson's but they both threw up. So we tried Royal Canin (dry) and mix it up with Pyramid Hill Lamb (canned) from Woof Woof pet store. They seem to like it. Dr. Baro of Baro Veterinary Clinic, however, will try to order Nutro and Science Diet for us. His cell # 0927 663 4092 should you need to contact him. Hope this helps.

Speaking of cats. ... you were werent ya. :cat: Uggy would did have problems with Friskies and was trowing up a lot. Vet, Michelle, at Cats and Dogs Veterinary Clinic, suggest Royal Canin, which runs about 320 P/Kg. I was hesitant but tried it and it made a significant difference in his energy level and appearance. Uggy does not have a problem throwing up any more... I was told it was the base material (rice?) that he may have been allergic too in the Friskies and she had other clients with a similar problem.
I do have trouble getting Royal Canin and am constantly asking when the next bag is coming into Cats and Dogs Veterinary Clinic. If you know someone who gets a reliable supply let me know. Thanks... I find the keeping enough good food for the cats in stock is a constant problem here... it is a constant search and buy operation. If the dog owners have a consensus of what to buy you may try to buy larger quantities together for continence of purchase and costs.
Because most pet owners maintain their animals like they maintain their cars, there are lot of parasites and intestine worms in the area. I worm Imp and Uggy every three months or they past blood and lose weight. I buy the tables at Cats and Dog Veterinary Clinic for 70 P per tablet. Each tablet does 10 Kg of pet weight for dogs and cats, one tablet does both of them. The product is called Caniverm and they have a tablet applicator that makes giving the tablet easy. I do it at home at a very low cost and am very happy with the results. Before starting the program I was spending about 1,400 P in hospital visits every 3 to 5 months. I am sure any Vet Clinic can sell you the tablets. I do the Filipino cats too, to keep the worm population down in the yard. Imp and Uggy picked the worms up in the first house I rented. So if you let your animals outside figure there may be a problem.

We buy the BOW WOW in the yellow bags from Robinsons, 985 peso for 20 kilo, actually need to head there in the morning for another sack. Never had an issue with the dogs puking it up or such. We have a number of dogs from big pure breeds to little locals and they have all done well with it.

Dogs will eat most anything in my opinion, some more than others. My Belgian/Dalmatian cross loves tomatoes, and the ends I cut off (I like to use tomatoes) he is all over. Most fruits all the dogs enjoy, some of the odd ways fish is cooked here has all our dogs excited and they have not turned a bit down yet.

I cook/BBQ a few times each week with chicken or pork and the bones and fat go to the dogs...they love it. They can even tackle fish bones and prawns shells.

The dogs food is mostly dog food but it is supplemented quite a bit with "human" food...banana and mango has to be tops on their list as fruits go.

They were out of stock of the yellow bags of BOW WOW so we ended up getting the brown bag that was almost 1,400; steep but we needed dog food and I was too busy to look elsewhere yesterday. The dogs ate it fine, no issues with a change in dog food; though they are my garbage disposal so they do get a varied diet.

Just an update as my lovely wife clued me in the other day that our dogs did have some issues with the breeder's choice back when I was not here and she would not buy that one again. When we were buying a bag the other day at Handyman (they were just getting a delivery) I impulsively bought one of the Blue bags of Bow Wow as it would be a 20 minute wait to get the yellow bag(which could end up much more as we know). Most of the dogs didn't seem to like it right off the bat but did not seem too bad with it, no puking issues. The yellow bag for whatever reason is our first choice.

The wife has family with a fiesta today (working on some other projects so I could not attend) and she came back with a ton of pig bones and various other stuff, the dogs went nuts. We are spoiling our Belgian Malinois more than normal as she has pups, but Cherry will make sure our girl has the best choices as she needs to keep up with her 7 pups. Our other dogs know to keep their distance from her.
