Hi all. I have been in Dumaguete for the last year or so. I work offshore 2 months on/ 2 off and just extend my visa every time for the extra month I am here on top of the standard entrance stamp. Trouble is I seem to be getting a lot of flack at the airport immigration the last couple of times coming into the country. Usual questions like are you really a tourist etc. Can they refuse entry in a situation like this?
They used to ask me these questions quite a bit as well. I just tell them I get a lot of vacation time. They didn't believe me of course and told me that it is "only 50k USD" for an investment visa (because I can just pull 50k out of my @ss at any time like it's nothing....it's a cool party trick!). I smile and tell them I am looking into visa options since I'm not married and they let me go through. I believe that, technically, they can deny you entry for any reason they see fit, though I have never heard of this happening to anyone who was smiling and being polite. Since you are 2 on/2 off they don't really leave you much choice for other visa options, I would just politely explain to them your situation, smile and hope for the best.
Yep think you are right there. Last time just smiled and said I would rather be on holiday here than in my own country. It's just a worry as we have just had a baby this month. Looks like marriage is imminent...
I think mentioning you have a child with a Filipina would make it even less likely that they would deny you entry. Once (if) you get married you will have more visa options available to you and this won't be a problem.
I have a few friends that are mine workers that are on the fly in fly out system back every 6 weeks i dont know of any of them having any trouble. I wonder why they ask you that, maybe they are thinking of making people with multiple entries pay from day one
