She was saying that since I thought Mayweather was a better fighter than Pacman that Mayweather is my "idol". She is calling me "Gayweather" now. lol Glad I'm a couple thousand miles away from the Philippines.
We watched the fight at Gie-Gies and for some reason all the Filipino's starting cheering when the decision was announced then when quiet when they realized they said "Money", not Manny. It was obvious that Floyd won decisively, would have been nice if Manny could have cut off the ring and get some good shots in and made it more of a competitive fight. Shawn
The heart of the matter is that fight should have happened 5 years ago when both fighters were in their prime and a few challenges could have occurred. Not sure if Manny could have beaten him then but for sure the fights would have been more entertaining than this one-sided event.
[DOUBLEPOST=1430638738,1430638450][/DOUBLEPOST]lol Mayweather is now my "idol"....I think I better let it go before she flies over here and rips my head off. [/QUOTE] I will sign you up for the Justine Bieber Fan Club. What's your email please. LOL
Pacquiao lost for one simple reason: HE WAS TOO FUDGING RESPECTFUL. Too. Fudging Respectful. This is why Alvarez couldn't do anything with Floyd. He got in there and suddenly forgot who he was. Rabbit in the headlights...Full credit to Mayweather but Pacquiao will be kicking himself big time because he massively underperformed and he knows it. Again, for one simple reason: too respectful. He just kept waiting and waiting and waiting for that golden opportunity and it never came. While Pacquiao was busy waiting Floyd was gauging distance and sizing him up. He had him completely figured out. Ironically, Maidana had better success because he genuinely couldn't give a fudge about Mayweather or his skills. He went in there to carve him up, and while he couldn't beat Floyd, he at least put some hurt on him and caught him with some decent power shots. If you stand there thinking about what you're gonna do against Mayweather he'll time you without fail. Pacquiao, just like Alvarez, thought about it WAY TOO MUCH and gave Floyd all the time in the world to do what he wanted. Sorry Pac but you blew it
A humongous marketing opportunity (aka boxing match) held in the United States with an American and a Filipino participant, featured the Mexican national anthem (sung first), then the anthems of the respective countries of the fighters, in Michael Buffer's words, "in honor of Cinco de Mayo". Had nothing at all to do with the fact that Tecate Beer was the main sponsor.
I agree that he should not have mentioned the shoulder at all, but I am sure he would have had a genuine injury, as it is out of character for him to be false I suspect. The reason he would not have mentioned it before the fight, is not give his opponent any more ammunition to use against him. Manny's career record is still amazing, and he was beaten on the day by a better fighter...........I admire the guy very much..........and Floyd has to be congratulated on a rare unbeaten record, equaling Marciano.
I have never thought about that side of Boxing but I would have thought that given it was a worrying Injury it seems, why it was not picked up at the medical exams, (Which I would have thought been mandatory) Even his own Camp surely should have had concerns? or am I missing Something here? are these Medicals there for this reason or just to check for Drugs and things. JP
Marchiano was 49-0, Mayweather is 1 shy. It would be the class thing to get 1 final win and retire not breaking the record but he probably won't. I watched the fight 3 times (1 live, 2 replays), the last time after I read about the injury. I saw no indication at all that the shoulder was bothering or inhibiting him, he was throwing it frequently (and missing). A shot of cortosone/lidocaine would not have changed anything. IMO.
