From what I have been reading, it appears the injury occurred during training some weeks prior to the fight, and had healed, therefore not mentioned or found during any pre-fight medical, but, re appeared during the fight. Either way, it would have been best for Manny not to mention it, because now of course, the obvious reaction from everyone, is "excuses"..........lol.......and it was his right shoulder I believe, not his left, and he is a South Paw..........I have done a lot of amateur boxing in College and know what it is like to defend or attack with an injury, however, we never raised the issue of an injury, we kept it to ourselves, win or lose, and, incidentally, I never lost a fight....however, I did not have as many fights as Floyd, nor did I get paid either,......:frown:........lol...........:hilarious:

When you are fighting the adrenaline is very high, and does actually numb pain to a certain degree, so anyone watching, particularly non-boxers, would not notice it, but an injury does throw your accuracy off, and timing, it gives your brain more to manage than is normal, I know that from experience, having said that, I think that injury or no, Floyd was the better boxer either way.

I thought Manny put in a great fight was the aggressor thru out Floyd was a technician and Manny couldn't get to him

    I don't know.
Reason Mayweather won is that he is smarter. He fought a smart fight using strategy. And he is a better boxer. Pacman is a great fighter and his boxing has improved alot, but he still lacks in that area, especially in fighting a strategic fight. Fighters like Ali used to just cover up and let fighters like pacman run of of steam punching their arms.
Mayweather just kept off the ropes, although on at least one occasion he did the same thing, covered up and you see him taunting Pacman saying he wasn't being hurt by flurry of ineffective punches. Also Mw had a 5 inch reach advantage, that helps alot when keeping a buzzsaw like Pacman away from you. MW is a better boxer.

Mayweather commands a lot of respect in the ring - and so he should. He's technically an excellent boxer.
Outside of the ring, in years to come - what will be his legacy? When he hangs-up his gloves he will tell himself "look at all my money" but who will care?
For his sake, I hope he remodels himself as a pundit/commentator - otherwise he'll miss the rush and end up taking his frustrations out on someone else (ref. Tyson).
Money can buy you power & influence - but it doesn't buy you RESPECT. Unlike in the ring, that will hurt him more.

    Pacquiao

Loved & revered around the world. A shining example of 'let the boxing do the talking' and remembers that in the face of God, man is nothing but mortal.
A humble man from humble beginnings. Easy to forget when your bank balance is larger than the GDP of Mindanao!
Probably a good idea to retire now. It only takes one fatal blow to ruin your life and crush all that you have worked so hard for. If he wants to occupy himself with the dirty, seedy world of Filipino politics then so be it. Personally I think he deserves a long rest! Maybe after that:

    "The Pacman Foundation"?
A 'fighting fund' for the poor

    (excuse the pun)

I don't believe Pacquiao is "loved and revered around the world". He's a great boxer and p/t politician and basketball player in a small country. He's a celebrity - some people love and revere them, I don't.
I'm old enough to remember Ali in his prime, saw him fight an exhibition match in Va when his license was suspended for refusing induction. He needed the money. Fought 3 guys (separately, of course) but could have probably beaten all 3 at the same time. He was widely hated at the time - as is Mayweather.
Ali truly is "loved and revered" around the world but it wasn't always so. The public is fickle.
