Has anyone had experience with “Wind Turbine Ventilator”? Do the help cool the house?

My roof is sealed, no hot air can escape out of the top. Since hotter days are ahead of us, I was wonder what non electrical solutions are available. It seems like letting the hot air out of the attic would be one solution to lowering the temperature inside the house. (I have not vertical areas to put an exhaust fan).

Has anyone had one of these in their house? Has anyone installed or had one installed. My roof is a corrugated GI roof. Has anyone had a successful installation?

Can a neighbor survive getting hit in the head with one of these if it flys off my roof during the typhoon season?

Just a few questions I am experience in my own head.

Dave, I have nothing to add about this other than, we have ventilation grills under the eaves all around the roof. 7 in all, that seem to work well. we also have an apex mesh covered grill, at the very top.
I have seen the turbine ventilators you talk about but only on commercial properties. and that seems to be for dust extraction. I smiled a little, when you mentioned falling objects. I guess, it would only be as bad, as a falling Coconuts. our locals, seem to cope with this type of issue :D Mateos have them for sale, so I guess that would be a good place to start

More information - thanks for the help so far

Thanks for you information. I did paint my roof a beige, I did not like the white roof, and it has made a difference. I had the red-terra cotta color orginally on the roof and I could have baked a cake in the attic.

My roof is sealed so the heat just builds up and stays. There are the ventilation grills, as mentioned, under the eaves which would let in cooler air, but there is not place for the hot air to go. ( I do have a little concern when some of my friends come over and cause more hot air to build up and rise within the house ....O-|)

My biggest concern is rain leaking, and the Ventilators just blowing off the roof in a typhoon.

Has anyone tackled the issue of installation without leaks or flying objects resulting?

I installed 2 big turbines 2 years ago,2,5 feet diameter ....cost 8000 pesos. No leaks and works great and on an average reduced my el. bill by 1500 pesos. I also installed 7 air intakes around the house 3 x 1 feet. We now have constant circulation and the inner roof is not as warm any longer.

Somehow SuneL was able to post as a guest (not having an account). Not sure how that happened but he/she will not see that you replied to this thread. I would normally say to send emails through PM but in this case it is not possible to even contact the poster. Probably best if you remove your email.....it's a quick way to get a lot of spam in your inbox.

    I
I researched these for my house and the information I found on one of the energy sites was that it is better to have two powered fans either end of the roof space one to extract one to suck in fresh air. the Germans manafacture some solar powered ones with a thermostat.
The reason stated is that the passive turbines do not shift enough air.
The other thing with corrugated iron roofs based on my experince in Australia is to have foil insulation directly under the roofing iron with an air space of about 20mm. It can be done as a retrofit using timber battens to give you seperation between foil and the roof.
