 Now I know that things come up on Visa's and Immigration on a fairly regular basis but as we all know, so many different things come to light from different stories and even different Staff in BOI Offices.

So can I ask, has anyone within the last say 6 to 9 months done a 13a First time application.?
If so can you tell me ( well for all I guess) What the Requirements you needed and the Procedure? It would help greatly if you tell us which Office you went to and if I could ask, What was the Reception like?
Pain in the Butt I know but I feel the Actual happening is far better than what the BOI Web site says should happen. One says this, one says that, you need this, you need that. If you have done it Recently this is what I think I would trust. Cost if You have the Info to hand would be very Nice.
Any and all help/advice will be most welcome.

    JP :bag:

Jack, my 13a experience is a bit beyond the 6 to 9 months criteria you stated but I will just say the paperwork and documentation requirements were exactly the same as stated on the BI website (ie, there was none of the "and other documents as required by counselor" that the CFO does). The whole thing was done at the Mandaue office that is now closed.
My only comment to anyone doing this is to consider the possibility (as unlikely as it seems at the moment) that you will not be staying in the country. For me that becomes more probable with each passing day and I have a good friend in town who is going back for good in a couple months after also going through the whole process (and building a house). All the time, hassle, and money spent getting it are for naught. Just something to consider.

    Jack,

I am at the tail end of this process. Mike is right in I think they wanted and took the exact list of documents as listed in the checklist that goes with the application. I had lots of other documentation...because you know how they can be! Only thing different I did was have the joint letter notarized as well. Don't know if it mattered or not. I had the priest that married us and a retired judge as references. I had police clearance from US but because I have been here longer than 6 months they didn't want it.....just the NBI. The cost was just over P10,000. Took about 2 hours to submit in the new BOI in Cebu. Then had to go back for the interview with the wife.....not much of an interview....the officer and my wife just chatted a while and she told us about the rest of the process. Then I waited 6 weeks to get confirmation of approval.....just this week. Now I have to go back again to get the visa posted to my passport. Hope that helps!

As per "rbrown". Same experience for me (via Manila). Took about 9 weeks to see my application approved 'online' via the BOI Website. Our interview was a bit awkward as the lawyer (chuckle) we were interviewed by seemed to have a major issue with "foreigners" stealing all the best women? Still, I just bit my tongue and nodded at the appropriate moments. The whole process is as described by others on this thread. Relatively straightforward save all the running around getting the correct paperwork sorted. They insisted on a Police clearance certificate from UK (as well as local clearance) even though I had been in .PH for 9 months. But not too much of a problem all round. One guy was having problems due to a previous 'overstay' black mark against him (only a few days) so I would suggest no one ends up in that predicament!
