Never heard of this instrument before, but what an amazing sound, almost a one man group. Chapman Stick: While My Guitar Gently Weeps George Harrison, Beatles song 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' performed by Bob Culbertson. This performance includes various expression techniques and improvisation. The Chapman Stick (The Stick) is an electric musical instrument devised by Emmett Chapman in the early 1970s. A member of the guitar family, the Chapman Stick usually has ten or twelve individually tuned strings and has been used on music recordings to play bass lines, melody lines, chords, or textures. Designed as a fully polyphonic chordal instrument, it can also cover several of these musical parts simultaneously.
This Chapman Stick produces amazing sound! I could listen to this kind of music every day. It kinda struck me as being like an electric piano in terms of how many keys can be pressed at any one time to create that full sound. But this thing's full sound is produced by applying finger pressure directly to a set of strings along a guitar-like neck. Amazing! Thanks for sharing.
