An aviation security expert said it had "incredible similarities" to a flap from a Boeing 777, the type of plane that vanished in March 2014. But the island is a huge distance from the plane's search area and there have been other crashes much closer. No part of the Malaysian Airlines flight has ever been found. It disappeared en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board. Aviation expert Xavier Tytelman said a code on the plane would be examined, promising a "definitive answer" on whether there was a link in a few days. A second piece of suspected plane debris has washed ashore on the Indian Ocean island of Reunion, after a wing part suspected to come from the missing flight MH370 was found on Wednesday. The object, believed to be the door of an aircraft, was discovered just south of the city of St Denis. It is said to have foreign writing on it and possibly some illustration. A foreign language to who? That is a French island right? Would that foreign language happen to be English? I would think that all instructions on a commercial airliner would all be in English regardless of the airline who owned it.
The 'part' (could be a piece of scrap metal from all sorts of constructions) was shown on CNN and when they zoomed in there were 2 distinct markings visible which to the untrained eye (mine) looked Chinese....
Further to my earlier response (a few minutes ago), I just read in my on-line Dutch newspaper that the part that was found was (part of) a ladder. The portion where the ladder folds, so with the round hinge. This also explains the Chinese markings I alluded to...
MANILA -- The wreckage of an aircraft with the Malaysian flag painted on it was allegedly found in the Philippines, Malaysian authorities said. According to a report on The Strait Times on Sunday, police in the Malaysian state of Sabah received a report from a Filipino man who spotted the wreckage with human remains at Ubian Island, located in Tawi-Tawi, a few days ago. State Commissioner Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman said they are already investigating the report. The man made the report at the Sandakan police station on Saturday. In the report, the man said his nephew and a few others where hunting for birds when they spotted the wreckage on the island. The group managed to get near the wreckage and found human bones. They also took a flag they found in the wreckage before they left. The man said he informed the police as the wreckage could be that of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, which disappeared in March 2014. Meanwhile, authorities in Mindanao are baffled over claims of the discovery, as there had been no reports of any aircraft crashing in the area.
