PO2 Jose Sering of Panglao Police Station identified the victim as Martin Schloglhofer, a 48-year-old Austrian national, who had stayed at Acasia sunset in sitio Daorong of barangay Danao, Panglao.

The police received a report about a foreigner being found dead at 2:23 pm yesterday, August 8, along the barangay road of Bolod, Panglao.

Upon arrival of Sering’s team at the crime scene, personnel of the Bohol Tourist Police Unit (BTPU) led by Ronelon Reveche were already at the area and the victim was already brought to Ramiro Community Hospital in Tagbilaran City on board the municipal ambulance.

Based on initial investigation, the victim left Acasia sunset at around 1:45 pm that day going to the site of an on-going project he has taken part at Sunshine Village in barangay Libaong, Panglao, on board his Motorstar motorcycle.

His belt bag containing BPI ATM cards, mobile phone, passport, cash amounting to P20,000 and other documents was no longer there.

At the hospital, the attending physician declared him dead on arrival.

Based on the post-mortem examination conducted by Dauis municipal health officer, Dr. Joni Co, the victim sustained one gunshot wound in the head, causing his instantaneous death.

Authorities advised the victim’s Filipino live-in partner, Josephine Libres, that the body of the victim be autopsied.

Part of the article said he was Australian and also said he was an Austrian national. I doubt he was an Austrian national living in Australia so maybe the editor doesn't know the difference.

Schloglhofer sounds more Austrian than Australian though.

Could have been anyone really. We will likely never know who was really behind it though.
