:cigar: Over the last few years I have known a few Locals that had a good Chance to succeed and for whatever reason they blew it. Now the Latest to me is some one I spoke about earlier in the Year and Dustin asked me to do a show case, I am now glad I did not as many may have been Disappointed.
A young Lady working at my Wife's cousins Parlour decided to go alone on Manicures and Pedicures, doing Home Visits. Friends, work Colleagues and family all promoted this among their Friends etc and the lady in Question built up a Good 5 day business, earning around 700 a day and with an outlay of about 150 she was into a nice little earner So now we have been waiting about 4 weeks and not a sausage has been heard, she obviously has changed her Phone number as we get nothing.
Now I am all for saying well done to anyone who can do it but what is with them, that they just can't maintain it. Yes she worked hard and long Hours sometimes but was reaping the reward of that.
I now hear that her Husband has done the same with his Denture business, built up a Good Clientele, Now nothing from him either. Obviously Thinking they have earned enough to retire?
Azons cousin in our Purok has decided to sell his Trike & License because he can't afford the repairs Yet we know he was earning better than Average Trike Drivers. Here we find he has turned to Drink and not paying his repair bills and that was to Family also, One has to wonder if the Others have had a problem and started to loose custom, Although we have not heard of anything, quite the Contrary, Until now, somethings is having an effect on these people, they had it and have Blown it!
Anyone else have Stories like this?

Some people are just too stupid to get out of poverty. (Not ignorant....stupid.) Once you identify them you just have to let them be stupid and poor as there is nothing you can do to help them. They will be nothing but a money pit and will screw up everything they touch.

This probably doesn't help them out much either.

Similar thing happened to a foreigner who had a small resto in dumaguete, trusted his workers and relatives to run the place whilst him and his wife were away. Wages were always paid and the customers kept coming.
Then the greed set in and bills were not getting paid and things went downhill from there and when they got back the shop was all shuttered up and even all furniture and kitchen equipment had been stolen.
These people had good jobs and were paid well but they just ruined it,maybe it's just a cultural thing.
Same sort of thing in valencia,a small bar/cafe and owner works abroad, they make money but the people who run the place ran up a p90,000 elec bill and were cut off. I think the owner who owned the place must have paid the bill due to his/her staff incompetence.

I take you point Davy but I was really meaning a Self Start up as a local, there are many stories about Foreigners being ripped off and there always will be, as long as we trust the local to run our business. It is the local that can't sustain their own Business that I was getting at.

You can have the same story with a worker in any society on earth.. USA, Europe, etc... There are people who just will be unsuccessful long term. Many things can happen.. hard word causes stress and people all react differently and many will fold. I have known many in the USA who have become drug addicts, drunks etc.. Many start a business then fail.. most self employed businesses in the USA fail, over 75% fail within 2 years.. this is not a Filipino problem it is a human problem.

The reality is that Filipinos are not forward thinkers. If you offer them 100P today, or 1000p in 24 hrs they will always take the 100p right now. They do not care about tomorrow, or the next hour for that matter. That is why this country is and always will be 40 years behind the times.
