I DON'T see all guns as WMDs. Cut me some slack here. I come from a hunting family going back generations!

I don't see all cars as WMDs. But folks need a basic vision test to get a permit to drive. And periodically, they need a vision test every so often to maintain their driving permit.

Slowing crazy people down from getting legal possession of a gun that they turn into a mass-killing weapon will not stop them all - to be sure.

But I think closing the wide open and unrestricted door to legal gun possession can deter a few. And this won't impact or harm responsible gun owners/users.

I think there is a sane way to approach this where the rights of sane citizens can be maintained.

Just like having a basic vision test for operating a car, isn't there anything to be done to slow the gun ownership down on those who are not in their right minds?

Yes. I like my right to gun ownership. I want to maintain my right to a firearm.

But some folks cannot uphold the responsibilities of this right, and I would think we could have a mechanism that can cull a few of them from the herd.

You cannot have 100% prevention on anything - especially with guns. They are intentionally designed to take life from the get-go. My freezer has been filled with the meat of animal life I killed over the years in order to feed my family and to feed low-income seniors in my community.

But we seem to be experiencing a few folks, who at one point, do turn their guns into deadly mass-murdering machines against innocent human life.

The majority of these mass-murderers seem to be young and under the age of 30 - and mentally unable to properly uphold their responsibility to gun ownership.

Do we go back to the Wild West days and arm everyone? Do we enact Good Sam laws to protect "good guy" shooters so they can kill bad guy human life killers?

All I know is that I'm sick of all the needless killings and the massive taking of innocent human life by these killers with guns.

I wish I had an answer to please all sides - but I don't.

But doing nothing about this isn't an answer or a solution to slow this killing down, either.
