Finance & Legal Having a Will Made

Whilst we are on the the subject of solicitors, can anybody tell me where I can get a will made out?
I was at Kri last Sunday and after lunch I happened to notice a Solicitors office at the back of
the foyer ,so I checked it out and found that the Solicitor was on duty, so after knocking on the door
I was ushered inside by a young lad with no decorum what so ever, and met a gentleman
who introduced himself as ................. I told him that I did not want to take up his time, but only
wanted to ask him if he made out wills, and if so what were his costs to do so? He could not give
me a direct answer as to either of my questions, as he needed more information such as my
bank account, did I own property, and that he would have to witness the will, ( which is common
knowledge ) and quite a few other questions that were irrelevant as far as I was concerned.
This bloke was so shifty and I started to feel my blood pressure go up, so I politely told him that I would
return when and if he was able to answer my two simple questions, without wanting to know my
financial situation. There was only one person involved, no complications, just a straight forward easy will,
but still he could not give me an answer as to the cost or whatever, so I then just turned my back on him and
walked out of his office, whilst he was still pondering over what his costs would be.
I thought that a Solicitor would have a ball park figure for making out a simple will, but not him,
so if anybody knows where I can get a will done I would appreciate it very much.

 

Yes you can have a will prepared. My wife and I both had one done. The cost was 5K peso each.
The lawyer I used was Atty Micheal Miguel. I had a couple of requirements about my continued use of our property in case my wife died before me as she has two kids with some rights to the property. What impressed me was his immediate answer to my question "I don't know, I'll have to look into that." He did find the right wording to do what I wanted.
He is a stickler for details which is great.
One time we were doing a "deed of donation" and my neighbor was to be a witness. Atty Miguel knows my neighbor very well yet still he insisted they attend his office to sign the document (as required by law) instead of me just bringing him the signed document to him.

 

I had a 'Last Will and Testament' made. I went to the internet, I think it may have been the Philippines government website, and downloaded a version I could modify to my specifics. I then took it to the Dumaguete City Hall Legal Office. The city attorney wanted changes to it so they typed me up a new one with my details, notarized it, and I picked it up 3 hours later. I think it cost 1000p. Ironically, I had a stroke 3 weeks later.

 

Thanks Show Pony and PatO, for your help, but I think that I will download a version from the internet as PatO suggested and go from there. I just remembered that I made out a will with a solicitor in Australia years ago leaving everything to my wife at the time, and it is still current so what happens if I get a new will, do I have to cancel the one in Australia before I fall off the perch, and how would they know if a new will has been made here in the Philippines? Maybe I should get a new will made out in Australia and keep it here for when the big event happens.... I dont want my ex wife in Australia getting my 1000 peso`s. lol.
