    DIPOLOG CITY, Philippines – An Italian businessman, former missionary priest Rolando del Torchio, was reportedly kidnapped by unidentified men about 7 pm on Wednesday, October 7, at his pizza restaurant inside the Andres Bonifacio College compound here.

    Dapitan Police Chief Divin Ceriales confirmed the kidnapping incident. He said he received an urgent call from Senior Inspector Romer Lim, chief of the Zamboanga del Norte Police Provincial Office (ZNPPO) Intelligence Division, informing him that the former priest had just been kidnapped.

    “I also received a call from Dipolog City Police Office informing me about it, and I immediately put the Dapitan City police force in full alert considering that Dapitan could be used as the kidnappers’ escape route,” Ceriales told Rappler.

    As with other things Not too sure what good will come of it but at Least the issues of Kidnapping have woken a few up and seem to be starting to take things a little more seriously :wideyed:

    I had the Brit embassy contact me today as to how many Brit they think are living here so maybe they are concerned about the above issues also,they don't usually contact us via cell phone!

    What you wanna bet that they spend it all on dried fish, Red Horse/Tanduay and cock fights? I'd bet the preventative maintenance on their boats are about as good as it is on local trikes and jeepneys. Absolutely no forward thinking and they probably only do these kidnappings when they are strapped for cash and are running out of food....on top of that they have to give the bulk of the cash to the guy in charge.

    Or a sawn off shotgun!
    I know someone who lives here now and was kidnapped a few years ago over there,luckily enough this person managed to escape and hastily got off the island,they were well armed also but made no difference.

    ZAMBOANGA CITY—Italian pizza restaurant owner Rolando del Torchio had been freed by his captors, the police confirmed on Friday.

    But Chief Supt. Miguel Antonio, the regional police director of Western Mindanao, said the details of Del Torcio’s release remained scant, including the location and time.

    A reliable source told the Inquirer that Del Torchio, who was kidnapped in Dipolog City on Oct. 7, 2015, was released on Friday after his family paid P29m in ramsom.
