Possibly, but if it was Chinese on Chinese violence it probably didn't have anything to do with Philippines/Chinese relations (Which would be hard to make much worse short of active violence)
Chinese Deputy Consul and Finance Officer both dead on arrival at Cebu hospital, but Consul General in stable condition. Apparently a husband and wife were detained at the Cebu Consulate Office. Strange happenings, inscrutable Chinese.
They've been here for a very long time. Two Chinese diplomats killed in the Philippines - CNN.com It doesn't look like the husband and wife were being detained. Looks like work place violence/some type of love affair/loss of face situation.
I'm talking about the PLA. Chinese officials get shot in PH. That's the in they have been looking for. Lock and load. Start digging your bomb shelters.
It was Chinese on Chinese violence. No locals involved. Maybe love triangle or bad business deal who knows. We will probably never learn the whole truth. One thing I learned dealing with the Chinese though is either you are standing on their heads or they are standing on yours. Their is no such thing as equality in any of their dealings. Just my two cents worth!
Apparently both assailants Li Qing Liang and Li's wife, Guo Jing, worked in the consulate's visa section, but will get diplomatic immunity. Unfortunately for them, they will be taken back to China, where they still have the death penalty. More preferable than staying in a filipino prison.
