So in Bali, where there is a death penalty for possession of certain drugs, a Balineese could get the death penalty for the same conviction here as in their own country.

So if a Filipino can own land in my country - can I own land here in their country?

If I remember correctly, Brazil (?) will not extradite US citizens if they can be tried/convicted in the US with a death penalty as a possible outcome.

Why doesn't the Philippine Government get extradition of it's citizens from China?

Is this more subtle bullying by China in a round-about way???

    WOW!

And all this time I thought only the female side was capable of this irrational thinking.

What's everyone worked up about? Foreigners can't own land, they can't own businesses. Sure as **** foreigners aren't going to be able to compete with locals on manufacturing and selling drugs.

As we discussed in other threads. The death penalty exists in the shadow justice system. No big change here.

Typical example of comparing apples with oranges... Yes, if this law is signed and applied it would mean that a Balinese or Saudi national could face the death penalty here if convicted. I fail to see the connection (if any) between convictions in drug-related cases and ownership of real property, but's probably the age....

Wrye83 so true. But these new laws will throw fuel on the fire of already stretched relations with China. Each nail driven into this coffin will eventually blow up in their face!

Hopefully other senators here will not agree with the spiteful and vindictive bill and take the moral high ground and vote it down. The Rodriguez brothers are small minded idiots who can't see past their own noses. The Philippines cries foul when one of their people get thrown on death row for transporting drugs.......the Rodriguez brother logic say, "all our people hate it when another country does this...I have a great idea....let's do that same thing that everyone hates too!" :banghead:
