I wonder how long it will take globe to give us this excuse

One in five households is suffering from poor Internet connection because their router is placed too close to a lamp, phone, stereo or baby monitor, the telecoms watchdog warns.

Sharon White, chief executive of Ofcom, says many homes receive a fast broadband connection through their phone line, only for the signal to be hit by "interference" on its way to a computer or tablet.

The Government is preparing to give every home the legal right to demand "fast" broadband speeds of at least 10 Mbps.

David Cameron believes high-quality broadband should but just as much of a "right" as water, electricity and other basic services.

However, Ms White says often those suffering from slow Internet are simply storing their wireless broadband router in the wrong place.:cool:Your lamp or baby monitor is responsible for slow broadband, Ofcom says - Telegraph

I have to agree that this an article everyone should read. It is very informative and accurate.

And it offers simple solutions to assist in getting the best out of your internet.

Please note - her references to "slow" internet are related to WiFi in the premises, not the actual physical connections from your ISP.

Our problem here is that the actual connection is slow and unreliable from the ISP.

There is a dramatic difference between the situations. If the above is ever offered as an excuse, I hope people are not gullible enough to accept it.

I am by no means a Techy on these things but to me it is how the Service is delivered. In Europe, BRITISH TELECOM, AOL & TELEFONICA (Spain) + the French and Italian Telephone Companies all deliver Internet down the Telephone Cable some even TV. 3,5,& 10 mbs [Depending on your bought Service) All with fixed & WiFi Routers, In Spain I found no great loss of Speed because of any thing nearby. the Phones connected to the System here are not Land Line but Mobiles so this could I guess make a difference. Where (To me) you get a Fixed proper Landline telephone connection in installed you don't have to worry about the Relay Poles anywhere, only maybe for your mobile connection. As with many things I feel it is the way these things are Delivered that causes the problem.
If other countries can achieve this, I think this is where they should be looking instead of Blaming things that they do have the resources to cure but just Don't.
The Only time I had a Brownout on Phones, Internet or TV in Spain on Telefonica, was when I forgot to pay the Bill. Seldom Technical problems for more than 2 hours. In fact if it was more than 2 hours Rebates were Given.
Engineers were Locally based and attended within a very short time. But.......................:jawdrop: You know the rest.
