Always been curious why the Dumaguete/Philippines doesn't have a similar program to what Thailand has with the "tourist police volunteers". Join Phuket Tourist Police Volunteers A Night Out with the Foreign Tourist Police in Thailand's Seediest City | VICE | United States Tourist police will merge volunteers | Pattaya Today Newspaper A program like that might help build trust and help with language barriers between the LGUs/Police and foreigners. I really doubt I would volunteer for such a program but I'm sure there would be plenty that would. (And it might give all of these retired special forces guys a chance to show off their skillz! )
I would volunteer for the traffic police ( is there such a thing ? ) on the condition they give me an Electra Glide in Blue
what would McDonald's do for lack of business in the mornings... On a more serious note I like the tourist police in Thailand. Can be lots of help with language barrier for foreign tourists as most speak English and/or multiple languages.
Terrible idea! Get out of the midday sun !!! that would be all you need is a foreigner thinking they got extra powers there. .... i have been harassed and yes it was harassing me in pattaya many years ago,,,,, told them to bugger off and mind their own business,,, most think they can lay down their law ,, and most have different ideas as to what the law is,, Hope it never happens ,,
Not a bad idea and to begin a pilot intern program and also measure results, may bring about positive improvements. If it showed that the program was non-effective, than scrap it!
Lets see now!!! We go with the police on calls? Or are we delegated to the house just asking question? For if we get to go on calls or on patrol, We would get alot of sleep in!! Because that would give them the right to, not do their enforcement of the law!! We would hate for that to happen!! Edited by Moderator to remove all caps.
Do I detect a hint of sarcasm there? I really don't know what authority or duties the foreign volunteer police have in Thailand. I don't think such a thing would ever be welcomed in the Philippines though.
I could always do with making an extra bit of money on the side. But I believe most duties would involve drinking coffee at Why Not, from what I have observed.
