Is Daro becoming the N/Oriental Dodge City DAILY STAR: Negros Oriental Just a bit more to go with this as I think it will all be related somewhere along the Way. DAILY STAR: Negros Oriental Jack
Perhaps there are logical reasons for all the shootings? Shooting 1. Sounds like gang violence to me. Shooting 2. More gang on gang violence. Shooting 3. Wonder why she didn't report? Perhaps she knew why she was being shot at (I suspect most people do) or maybe she feels her clan/people/gang can "take care" of the incident better than the police and courts? Shooting 4. Maybe shooting incident number 3 and 4 are related? The family of his last alleged victim might be on the top of my list.....but then again someone like this guy likely has many enemies. No matter the case it wasn't like he was just some guy going out for a Sunday stroll minding his own business. Shooting 5. Gee....I wonder who could be behind that one? What's cheaper......filing charges or having someone "deal" with him? Shooting 6. No idea but I'd guess it wasn't a random bullet finding some random guy. All except the last one seem like gang violence or people taking the law into their own hands (and that's probably just because we don't know the whole story of the latest shooting). The "war on drugs" empowers the gangs and the p*ss poor judicial system makes some people feel as if they have to take the law into their own hands. I don't think that Daro, or anywhere else in Dumaguete, is very dangerous for law abiding Filipinos or foreigners.
The second article about Mr. Katada is interesting as the police searched his parents home but not Mr. Katada's home. And the drugs were found in the helper's room. Quote: The illegal drugs paraphernalia were recovered inside the room of two female helpers, who said they could have seen or noticed the “shabu” when they cleaned their room. Unquote. This whole thing smells fishy.....not as fishy as wifey frying dried fish, but fishy nevertheless.
Some, maybe even all, of these 8 people who were shot may have been involved in criminal activity, but sometimes innocent people get targeted. If you are comfortable with firearms, I recommend your wife/girlfriend get a License To Own & Possess Firearms (LTOPF) and a Permit To Carry (PTC) the firearm -- and I recommend each of you carry a gun. The PNP told me I am allowed to carry one of my gf's guns -- and use it if necessary -- provided she is physically with me all of the time. It's interesting to note that most of these 8 people who were shot did not die, which means the wounded people could have shot back. Anyone who tries to shoot me & my gf on my motorbike will rue the day. Any terrorist (like in Paris recently) who opens fire in a restaurant where my gf & I are eating will wish they picked a different place. Jack Peterson, I know you and I disagree about firearms, and I respect your view, but I believe whoever is in the restaurant with my gf and me when a terrorist opens fire will appreciate us being there. We are both excellent marksmen and one of her .45 ACPs has a laser sight for improved accuracy. We use hollow point ammo to minimize collateral damage -- the hollow point bullet is unlikely to pass through the bad guy and take out an innocent person standing behind the bad guy. Although I advocate bring armed, I also advocate a layered approach consisting of a variety of tools. A gun is not the best tool for all situations. Sometimes pepper spray is the right tool. Sometimes a stun gun is the right tool. Sometimes a taser is the right tool. I always carry pepper spray & a Raysun X1 stun gun/taser. We do not always carry her .45s, but the bad guys never know when we are carrying & when we are not carrying so that acts as a deterrent. The Raysun X1 is LEGAL for FOREIGNERs to carry -- I already asked the PNP about this -- and I have never been denied entry to a store or mall or bank or police station because of the X1 -- although security guards that are not familiar with it sometimes hesitate until I explain to them what it is. Here are two links for the Raysun X1 multi-functional stun gun.
