Moved to a beach cottage in Zamboanguita with my Filipina wife, but will be looking for a house or 2-3 bedroom apartment in Dauin / Dumaguete over the next few weeks. I'm an American nuclear engineer (consultant) that travels the world for employment. Just finished a 5 year gig in Korea. Have a home in Hawaii (Big Island) as well as Las Vegas that I rarely see. I've been active on the Cebu forum for years now and need to get up to date on the Dumaguete area now that we've moved.
Welcome to the forum. I take it that you are here for R&R, wouldn't think there would be much work in the Philippines for a nuclear engineer.
Will be setting up a permanent household and heading back to the States to continue my consulting gigs for several more years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I found a 3-bedroom townhouse (newly built) in Purok Mahinabangaon, Lower Camanjac Barangay easily enough. Rent is 10,000p a month and it has hot water in 1 of the 2 restrooms. It wasn't difficult to find the place when the wife finally got interested. She's excited to move in tomorrow. One thing I did notice though, while online shopping for appliances, etc... is that Lazada.com.ph has exceptionally high pricing. I found items on Lazada that sell at Citi Hardware locally much cheaper. Found other items on Lazada that were anywhere from twice to ten times higher priced than the USA. The worse price disparity I found was with Corelle dishes. A setting for 4 was priced 10 times higher than the USA (Walmart) price. All-in-all though I still spent over 200,000p on Lazada...
