Hi everyone. My name is Alan Rossiter, I am new to this forum so here is a brief run down of my plans and background. I previously lived in Bacong and then moved to Bayawan about 5 years ago. I have 2 kids and a Filipina wife, Vivian, who is keen to return to N.O. We returned to Perth Australia so I could get repairs to my arm after I crashed my motorbike on the road to Shaiton (hope that's the correct spelling) since getting fixed up we have been stuck here trying to scrape enough money together to return, however this time to Dumaguete as there are more choices for schools for my 9 year old son. I would like to know if anyone can tell me how much to school fees are for the Montessori International School which is my preferred choice, also what is the rental market like in town and roughly how much for a 2 bedroom place? Cheers - Rosco
Hi Rosco Here is a website to get an idea about rentals in the area: Dumaguete Home Rentals ⋆ Dumaguete Home Rentals. I don't know about Montessori school but have a child in Saint Louis Don Bosco school (private, Catholic school from nursery through high school) and tuition runs about P30,000 per year. Maybe someone else has children in Montessori and can help with the prices or try to Google them. (i.e. "Montessori Dumaguete tuition" or some such. Edit: Is it okay to put this website for homes on here? Also you can look in the showcase are as there are several rental properties listed there too.
hey alan; i lived up the road from you in ampros be great to catch up again. i can help you when you get here to look around ect
Thanks for your info Dave, I anticipate our arrival in Dgte sometime in June/July time so have plenty of time to look around for a place. We have a house in Bayawan which initially will go back to, then spend time in Dumaguete looking for a school and a rental place. There are only 2 schools in Bayawan, one state school and the other a catholic college run by the nuns. So its a no brainer to go to Dumaguete for my son to get a decent eduction. Rosco
Hi Neil, great to hear from you. I knew you had moved to Dumaguete but lost touch with you. Hope you are going well there and once we get over (June/July) will look you up. Let me know what its like in Dgte now, we were over there in Xmas 2014 and noticed it was a lot more crowded on the boulevard and more traffic also. There are a lot more ex-pats there so the word must have got around what a great place it is to retire. Australia is so expensive now and we really struggle over here financially. My only worry is the decline in the Australian dollar, there is talk of it dropping to around 60 cents against the $US, which is not good news for my pension going over to the Philippines Cheers Rosco (Alan)

Taking your advise, I emailed DumagueteHomeRentals before I got here and 2 days after arriving I have a monthly rental. Trying to get them to sign up and do a showcase.
