Deathtraps all here. I drove a Checker yellow cab in NYC and car service in Brooklyn when I was young. As well as a short haul deliveryman on NYC, Long Island and New Jersey and various military vehicles. The situation here is risky and untenable. Good luck and good riddance.

Oh I agree the "photographers" are constantly "documenting" the scenes on posting them on FB sites for all to see and probably oftentimes that's how friends and family are notified of the passing of their loved ones. But life is cheap here. Privacy is non existent. Beliefs are fatalistic. I never saw any ambulances in "work mode" and I'm a retired FDNY*EMS medic. I did see many probably just doing errands for barangay captains and mayors. Cebu has a couple good "rescue squads" and the hospitals run their own "buses" now (what we call the "meat wagons" in NYC but is more descriptive of the real situation here). "Fire rescue" is non existent and the fire apparatus at city hall either look like something that they dusted off from the 1940s or from a Japanese monster movie. What does that tell me ? Don't drive a d*mn thing. You won't get extricated or immobilized, treated properly or transported correctly. You're on your own. And finally there's no trauma centers anywhere even in the best areas there's no level 1 or 2 centers in operation.

Regarding ambulances, I had a serious stroke 2+ years ago. My father-in-law quickly took his bike to the Bacong fire station where the ambulance might be. The ambulance followed him up to our house. I expected a couple guys with a stretcher to come in and load me onto the vehicle an hook me up to an IV, monitor my vitals, and speed me off to Silliman with sirens blazing before I croaked. So the ambulance arrives, one wimpy gets out and tells them to load me in. So my father-in-law, mother-in-law, wife, and a little help from the wimp load me in. No other person there to help or monitor my signs, hook me up to an IV, and no siren. Fortunately, it was Sunday and not a lot of traffic or they could have just dropped me off at St. Peters mortuary in Bacong on the way.
Moral of the story - get your last will and testament written and notarised, just in case....

Take it from the man with first hand experience posted above.

I have posted elsewhere that in the Philippines what is called an ambulance is a van with lights.

In the immortal words of Richard Pryor, "Call me a cab! I will be damned if I will bleed to death waiting on an ambulance!" Unfortunately cabs are few and far between around Dumaguete area but the point is still valid. You need to get to treatment as soon as possible. Waiting on the van to come get you probably doubles the time it will take to get effective treatment as you will not receive any en-route.

At that price I'd be looking for a cocktail cabinet and a cutie.

As you know I am looking for a bike. How did you find this? It is not mentioned anywhere on the Suzuki Philippines website suzuki.com.ph makes me wonder what else I am missing going to manufacturer's Philippines websites. Where do I need to be looking (besides visiting every dealership)?

It's catch as catch can. A couple of years ago a guy was looking for a scooter and I suggested the Kymco Agility City which I had seen but when he went to look they only had the base level Agility so he bought a Super 8. The Agility City is a classier scooter and actually priced about 15K less. Kymco didn't list the Agility City anywhere in the Philippines at that time, may not even now. Detective work and blind chance are what you have to go on.
