Really not sure where they get these Figures from. No one has ever been and asked How many dogs I have and if Anyone has been bitten by any of them, Then I have to wonder if All Bites are reported. The Figures just don't add up to me But...................... DAILY STAR: Negros Oriental
Whenever my dogs used to bite someone, that person would go straight to the hospital and ask for rabies injections and bring me the bill, which I always paid (even though I knew my dog was vaccinated and the only reason for biting was because I said "don't do that" to the human who "did that" and got bit). My dog bit me a few times as he was an alpha male and I kept him around for that reason. We butted heads from time to time but he knew who was the boss. So my guess is that the times other people went to hospital to get shots got recorded and the times the dog bit me did not.
If they are not behind a fence or on a lead then i would class them as strays, if someone does own them then they obviously don't care about the dog so best to round them up and put them down. Even if they are castrated. spayed or vaccinated they can still bite.
I have to agree. I like dogs just fine as pets but all the strays are a serious problem and to me a stray is a dog that is outside without an owner next to them so I really don't give a rats a$$ if people come complaining they killed their dogs which weren't on a leash or in their own yard. However out of who knows how many dogs I have come across here in the Philippines I have only ever seen one that appears hostile. When I hear of a dog biting someone the first thought in my head is wtf did they do to the dog.
Correct. While we were building our house - almost finished. Fence was up (both concrete and steel) and the gate had been started. We have 2 dogs - our new dog (american pitbull) (Peanuts - after my favorite cartoon) and the "Little B_I_T_C_H". Now Peanuts is well behaved, comfortable with our workers, protective of HIS property and alert of the surroundings. And obeys us without any major arguments (except for that "are you talking to me look"). On this day 4 young guys walked across the road - parallel to our house and fence. They were noisy - that got Peanuts alert. They came closer to the gate - that got Peanuts attention. They came even closer to the gate - that got Peanuts barking. They started throwing rocks and sticks and danced up/down like idiots - and Peanuts turned aggressive / alpha (as expected). Unfortunately that is also when the workers realized the gate was slightly ajar. Peanuts got past the gate and NOBODY moved. One of the guys kicked at Peanuts. Peanuts responded with a squeeze on the leg. Yes there was blood, yes there was panic, yes there was an outcry of pain, etc etc. End result was - we paid for the doctor and medicine. Did not pay any compensation (someone mentioned/claimed 10k). Did Peanuts get in trouble - NO WAY. But the neighbourhood guys are very quiet and careful when passing our house. NOTE: Peanuts and the young man have made friends (sort of). They both know who is the alpha . But the lesson was noted by everyone - including ourselves. (But I very much doubt that was recorded anywhere.)
The people 2 doors up got a pit bull puppy i have seen them with other dogs and they should never own a dog (if you know what i mean) its now 3/4 grown, today it got out and killed a big puppy that was in the lane at side of our house it only took it 3 minutes and no one could get it off the pup, small children play there thank god it was one of them. the woman who thinks she owns the street never bothered to say sorry to the pups owner she got in her car and drove off. moral to the story if you are going to tie a dog up inside your front with no shade and most likely no water if ever he gets loose you can be sure he will have a lot of anger to release.
You should thank the boys for teaching your dog who you want him to keep out of your yard. Best training you could ever ask for your dog and now the boys will avoid your house in future.
Driving past Agan-an beach one Sunday, I observed a dog dripping saliva and headed onto the beach. I reported this to the duty officer, in camo, at the nearby PNP station. He seemed interested, but not overly concerned. As though his interest were in observing a foreigner-type concern. I added that the beach was full of children. But as far as I could tell, no action was taken. I have been advised that it's not police jurisdiction.
