not sure whether this should be a showcase item or where-ever. The old long nose salivating sari sari owner came up with a blinder today. RUM. Don Papa, made in Canloan up in the volcanic region of Negros and retailed to moi at a cool P1450. The taste is somewhere between toffee, vanilla and with a hint of banana. I'd like to consider myself something of a rum expert and it may be down to my intoxification, but I'd rate this one of the finest I have sampled. Pic below,

Anyone had a bash at this or could point me to better brews?

A great rum but over priced, times mercantile used to sell for p1,100 or there abouts, supposed to be made by some monks up north. Best I've tasted here though.

Friends tell me it is good Rum ( can't drink it myself) but the prices here in Duma are silly expensive can buy in Cebu much less expensive at S-n-R and in Luzon for less than 1000 per bottle at duty free stores.

That's some expensive rum either way. Tanduay 15 year is some pretty decent rum and only runs 1/4th that. I personally prefer spiced rum but I'm not going to spend more than 500 on a bottle of anything.

Yes my thoughts when I first read the post, very expensive Rum. A good rum in Oz is Bundaberg which you can get for $35Au, less duty free.

If you are ever in the Virgin Islands they make Cruzan rum. I tried the light rum and it makes fine paint thinner and furniture polish remover. Much later I tried the Cruzan dark and the difference was night and day. Exceedingly smooth stuff. It was funny to watch people order their first rum and coke there. They would give you about 4 fingers of rum and then fill the rest of the glass with Coke.

Is naked advertising for a product no-one in the Phis will ever have the chance to get their mitts on allowed here?

The Eldorado Rum - Fine Cask Aged

Used to drink this stuff when I schlepped around the Carib a bit and a finer Rum I have not found. Why anyone wishes to ruin a rum with Coke is beyond me, I have yet to be persuaded. Tobogonians drink this with low cal tonic water, on the rocks and just a squeeze of lime.

Everything goes better with coke! they told me that from when I was in swaddling.

Did you know that rum and coke can kill you? There was a guy who picked up a bottle of rum on St. Croix and brought it back to the US and opened it and had a shot and it killed him. Evidently his bottle got switched with one that someone was going to use to smuggle cocaine into the US.
