Thanks but I can get up to 6 GB in 2.5 hours for 50 php. My need for internet isn't continuous but can be heavy when I do need it. I mistakenly thought that I could use an internet café to do any "heavy lifting" when I had something important or intensive to do and the internet cafes taught me better. I started out trying the plans and really just stumbled onto the fact that I don't get throttled or that it really is cheaper for me to pay as I go. Most days 10 php to check 3 e-mail accounts and maybe send one. I'm old fashioned and don't send a lot of texts. If I want to talk to someone and my feet aren't nailed to the floor I send a text to see if they are busy and if they aren't, I go see them. Crazy talk, I know.

I agree that it's handy to not have a phone that can compute orbital mechanics in realtime while heating up enough to make a grill cheese sandwich. If people have one that can and like it, I say cool. For me I can just tether my phone to my laptop.

 

Per your suggestion I did that same plan my first two months, then I found the create your own promo I use now. 1GB data and 1,000 texts to Globe/TM every 7 days for p70 (p280/month). I generally use less than 1/4th of that but lower limits cost more.

That is one option you could do but not the one I am on. 1GB, 1,000 Globe/TM texts every 7 days for p70. If you change the plan for more days or even no texts the price goes up. This is "the" promo to get, with the the texts even if you don't use them. This is good for sure right now, I just renewed another 7 days two hours ago.

 

Hard to say as I never looked into breaking it all down as per cost/unit. I use a Sky package deal with Internet and Cable TV works pretty well especially when I hear all the horror stories from everyone using other systems for Internet and TV. My all in cost is P1600 for unlimited internet/WiFi/Cable TV. It was a special package deal Sky had going when I moved in and it was already wired to the house so it made it quick and simple for me.
